Just went in a car all over the city to have a look. We found it good to see. if you have less time, skip it but at lease have 1 glimpse

I was lucky to get an English speaking guide (some other tourists booked her), who is not always there. She gave us introductions on this history and culture of the country and pointed out a lot of details on the paintings and sculptures that we would have missed if we had been there without a guide.

Not too much history of the city or country was given. The guides and people don't seem to know too many details of their history or their country.

They don't allow you to wander about on your own. You need to pay for a tour guide. The only problem is, if you don't speak Spanish you're out of luck as the guide only speaks Spanish. We didn't know this when we paid for the tour. My Spanish is very limited so I was not able to understand most of it.

We enjoyed our tour of the building. The woodwork is lovely. of particular interest were the different floor tile patterns used in each room.

If you have never been to the Palace you may wantto check it out. Beautiful historic paintings adorn thewalls everywhere. In the mornings there is an eventwhere they change the rose cradled in the sculpture oftwo hands depicting the day of our democratic society. This is great for children, tourists and anyone else wanting to learn about our history.

Jorge Ubico left what would become one of the most representative buildings of all times in Guatemala, which once held public offices, is now one of the most magnificents museums of the country. Go see for yourself the gold-coated ceiling at the banquet room. Take a picture at the flag hall and take a walk in the inner gardens, you'll be taken back in time, when Guatemala city was known as the "little silver cup"

One of the most beautiful buildings in Guatemala city, the intricate architectural details and the the history of the building make it a must see when visiting Guatemala city. To learn about it's history I would recommend reading up on it before going or taking a tour. If you are bringing a camera be careful as the area is not safe. If you are going plan your day as there are some nearby attractions that are worth seeing including the cathedral and the mercado central. For lunch you can stop by the Pan American or Arrin Cuan for some authentic Guatemalan fare.
