I stayed a week at Casagua Horses and was very fortunate to be the only guest. Kay and Esteban immediately made me feel like family. I requested the Casita and could not have been happier. Plenty of room, very comfortable bed and a great outdoor shower. Their knowledge of not only the horses, but the history of the land and people helped me to experience the real Costa Rica. Kay did an excellent job of picking the right horse and itinerary for my stay. Their love, respect, and care of these magnificent animals shows in everything they do. I enjoyed watching Esteban's Criollo Horse Demonstration, our ride on the Old Spanish Trail and stopping in Tempate at a typical cantina. Or riding to Chilito's, in the small town of El Llano for the famous fried chicken and chips. Did I mention that Kay is a very good cook? She was thoughtful to stock some of my favorite things and had no problem catering to my dietary restrictions. Everything is fresh, healthy and even the water is delicious. I think the best was saved for last when we rode the beautiful Pacific beaches just in time for a magnificent sunset. Thank you Kay and Esteban for such a wonderful experience. I look forward to when I can ride with you again!

We are happy to do private tours for not only experienced riders that want a chance to canter, but also new riders that need a little extra instruction. We believe that small groups and private or couples rides offer a more personal riding experience and gives us more opportunity to share knowlege about the environment and culture of Guanacaste. And we especially like it when troups of Howler Monkey's decide to camp out in the trees in the ranch.

Horseback riding is an excellent way to see Costa Rica and the cowboy culture of Guanacaste. The small towns and scenic back country trails give a real taste of the Culture and life of the people. Most of our horses are now born and raised on the ranch, giving us the opportunity to better match horses to riders, from beginners to experienced riders. We are located near Portegolpe, however many of our day riders are from local beaches and hotels along the Gold Coast.

We are happy that you enjoyed your ride, and come back any time! We know there are other tours, but are thankful you found us and choose to ride with us again.

It is always a pleasure sharing our world with our riding friends. Both Estaban and I feel it is important to have one of us or both to guide all the rides we do. We pride ourselves in providing personalized riding experiences for beginners and expert riders as well. And of course, the fried chicken is always a favorite, a real Taste of Guanacaste.

Thanks so much, when riders return, it is special for us because you cared enough to return and enjoyed riding our horses. Yes, Guanacaste can be an adventure when you get into the back country and enjoy Costa Rica culture of the not so distant past. Riders enjoy learning about the natural history and the human history, and Esteban is just the person to share his culture. He spent several years getting a degree in English so he can better share his world with others.

Time away from riding? We can get you back in the saddle to enjoy riding again. It's like riding a bike, you never really forget. We offer many private or semi private rides to make the ride meet individualized to the needs of the riders. We do love our horses and take pride in their health and longevity. They are never ridden too young or too hard.

Special events such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings,honeymoon or proposals are just a few of the special event we have been lucky to have arranged. Our horses are well trained and enjoy showing off for the camera. In addition, families with young riders get special attention with an extra guide and instruction on the trail. Our new Forest to Sea ride is becoming one of our most popular. Riding from a small village through dry forest back roads to the Pacific Ocean, then riding some of our most beautiful beaches is a treat. Whether early morning, a lunch ride, or sunset ride, it is a special dream of many riders. When we offer these rides depends on the tides. Glad you enjoyed it and come again.

We are happy you both were able to spend time with us and help us on some of our tours. You both are excellent horsewomen and Esteban enjoyed introducing you to Natural Horsemanship training used with our horses and that you had the opportunity two ride several of our horses and learn about guiding trail rides. Pura Vida. It is a good life in Costa Rica and we are fortunate to share our special piece of paradise with our riding friends. This was a particularly exciting time, watching Costa Rica participate in the World Cup. Glad you enjoyed your ride and Tico experience.

The two rides you selected are some of our favorites. You get a real feeling for the Guanacaste countryside and culture, as well as enjoying riding on the beach. When the tides are right and we riders can experience a spectacular Pacific sunset. Priceless. We do both day rides for people staying at local hotels, have a B&B, or a full riding package for three days to two weeks. Lots of options.

We think our horses are an excellent reflection of the noble horses of Costa Rica. Unfortunately, few experienced riders get to experience quality horses on tours. We appreciate your comments and are happy that you we able to ride with us.
