We went out with Rick and his crew yesterday and had the most amazing time ever! We are from northern Minnesota, so are all tried and true anglers, but as you can imagine, this was different than anything we had experienced.Rick is extremely personable and does everything possible to give you the fishing trip of a lifetime. His crew was great - helping us with anything we needed. They had fresh fruit available all day, iced tea, juice, beer and water to drink. And they made us a fantastic lunch with fresh avocados, cucumbers, tomatoes - it was great! We left the bay at 8:30; we started fishing about 9:30 and by 10:30 had the first sailfish on. After that we caught one about every 20 minutes! Overall, we caught 12 sailfish (lost one, landed 11) and had a ball! We found out about the Kingfisher from Tripadvisor, and I'm so glad we did. It was worth every cent and we'd highly recommend going with him. You will have a trip you'll never forget!

I'll start with the booking of this trip. Rick made the whole process very easy. I had a response to every email I sent within hours which was very nice when your excited to book a trip. We did not rent a car so Ricks awesome wife Jackie picked us up at our resort eliminating all stress of getting to the boat on time. As far as the fishing goes it was awesome we landed 2 sails and 3 dorrado one of which was 45-50 lbs. not only did we catch fish Rick took us right up to a school of spinner Dolphins so we could jump in and swim! This alone made the trip worth while. His first mate Orlando was not only a great fisherman but an outstanding cook. He took our first dorrado cut it up and made us the best ceviche we have ever had. Once the day was done Ricks wife picked us up at the beach and DROVE us to a local resteraunt to have our fish prepared for us! An hour later Rick showed up at the resteraunt with 2 shirts for my wife and I! This should tell u everything u need to know about Rick and Jackie! If u are looking for not only an amazing fishing trip but a whole experience this is it. Thank u Kingfisher!!!

As always we had a great day with Rick & Crew! Rick is very knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and flexible. He works hard to find the fish. One of the surprises was the opportunity to jump in the water and film a few of the tuna we caught. Had a blast and highly recommend a day with Rick aboard the Kingfisher!

15 sailfish, a striped marlin and a dorado...quite a day. Hospitality and captain were outstanding. Definitely recommended

Just came in from fishing with Captain Rick and Crew. Landed 3 sailfish and lots of action. The boat was clean, well maintained, quality tackle, and comfortable off-shore. Rick and crew were personable and a pleasure to be with. We appreciated Ricks experience and his willingness to spend time and money on gas when it slowed down to find the fish!! Awesom trip.

My husband and I took two friends with us to fish with Rick and his crew in Costa Rica. I can't tell you how much from this group of 'Tie-Dye Texans' had on Rick's boat. He and his crew were very helpful learning about the waters and fish off shore in the area. We fished for 3 days and everyone had a great time. Wouldn't change a thing - can't wait to come back!

My husband and I took a day trip with Rick on the Kingfisher last week for our 5th wedding anniversary. We fish most weekends during the summer, but have always done so from land. Getting out on a boat was on my husband's bucket list, and they made it a great experience. Every aspect of our day went smoothly, from pick up to drop-off at the end. We caught five fish that day, of which we were able to get 3 on the boat. All sail fish. They were beautiful, huge and put up a great fight. Despite being somewhat seasick, my husband had a great time. The crew were great about helping us with everything, including making sure he had water and crackers to calm his stomach. They had great snacks, fresh fruit, beer and water, and good fresh sandwiches for lunch. They couldn't have been more kind or more helpful. During our trip we saw hundreds of dolphins and got amazing views of them by watching from the front of the boat and even getting in the water with them. Jumping in was a bit scary at first, but definitely an amazing experience. I would definitely recommend Rick and the Kingfisher to friends. And, we hope to be back with Dramamine - in the future.

Fished on the Kingfisher in July of 2014 and from the first time I emailed the Capt. until we unloaded back in the harbor, Rick and his crew were not only true professionals but a pleasure to fish with. I have been a guide for 15 years and have hosted trips from Africa to Alaska. In that time I have learned that the good days are not always the best to judge an outfit. It's easy to be a competent guide or captain when fish are volunteering themselves every 10 minutes. How a captain and crew respond to difficult conditions, stubborn fish and unseasoned anglers is what separates the men from the boys and Rick and crew showed their true colors during the time I spent on the Kingfisher. In three days we didn't have a bite before 2:30 in the afternoon. Raised a sail here and marlin there but no bites and no fish to the boat- then when most captains would be packing it in the fish gods smiled upon us and each day a little magic happened. Yellowfin tuna and sailfish showed up good numbers and this is when the poor angling began. This trip was graduation present my stepson and while he has caught permit, bonefish and tarpon - tuna and sailfish are different sort of game. The guys patiently encouraged and educated Bailey, never frustrated or condescending and by the end of the trip he looked like stone cold bluewater pro. I'm already planning another trip and would recommend the Kingfisher to anyone looking for a true Costa Rica fishing adventure!!!

I have lost count on how many times I have fished with Rick and crew on the Kingfisher and I have never been disappointed. My first time down to Playa Carrillo in 2002 found us in a phenomenal sailfish bite, releasing 20-30 sails a day. Since then, I have been back just about every year to fish on the Kingfisher. I have had many "firsts" with Rick, including my first Striped Marlin, my first Blue marlin, my first Wahoo, and some enormous Dorado! This time it was my daughters turn to catch her first bill fish! After tag teaming a 30lb Yellowfin Tuna with her friend, Rick stopped the boat and we went swimming in the 85 degree, blue water at a depth of 3000 ft! Continuing on, we took plenty of photos of the dolphins and turtles. All of sudden, we had a sailfish at the teasers. The crew jumped into action, and my daughter had her first sailfish to the boat within 10 minutes! We raised a few more sails, and a marlin, but the Marlin had other plans. What a great day on the water and we will definitely be back. Her plan is to match her brother who caught his first sailfish (2) and Striped Marlin (2) on the same day 4 years ago on the Kingfisher. Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way!

Had a great trip AGAIN with Rick on Kingfisher. Last week I took my two sons 13 and 14 and brother-in-law out for a full day. I always try to fish with Rick when I come down to surf in Costa, usually twice a year for the past 20 years. They always deliver a consistent experience. They have a great boat, a highly skilled friendly crew and they find fish. Lots of porpose and birds in the morning looking very fishy but just schools of small Tuna. We kept working and then hit paydirt in the afternoon with a 225 lb Blue marlin around some structure then a 300lb beauty of a Marlin right after the first release. Both boys scored memories of a lifetime with both getting a Marlin release. Thanks again Rick see you next time I'm down.

For the second time this year I returned with two friends to fish with Captain Rick and his crew. June can be slow but Rick got us a nice sailfish and a 225 Marlin - that's right, a Marlin! It was my first time fishing in 32 years to be on a Marlin. We fought it for 1 1/2 hours and Rick did a great job of keeping the boat in position until we landed it. Highly recommend you try them out too!

This was our 5th fishing experience in Costa Rica. Rick and crew were excellent. My family, with 2 kids 11 and 13, did a full day trip out of Corillo (we were staying in Punta Islita). We had a great ride out, caught sailfish, tuna, mahi mahi, and were served a delicious lunch (Thanks Rick for the great fresh baked bread!). Rick has all of the equipment and rods necessary and able to accommodate kids and adults. He has a quality operation and does his best to make sure everyone has a great experience. We will certainly return for another trip with Rick when we come back.

This was our first sport fishing trip and we were not disappointed! We had a full day and everyone in our group (4) caught sailfish! Some even caught several! Rick and his mates are awesome and very patient with amateurs(me)! No fish to keep but great memories to take home! Highly recommend this tour!
