I love this waterfall..it is a hidden treasure in Esteli, Nicaragua.....it is not far from the city and you can breath fresh air all the time.

This is very close to town, but if you don't know how to find it, you would miss it! There is a charge to enter onto the property - per person. You definitely need a 4 WD drive as the road is really awful! At one point you drive over a huge rock! The waterfall is incredibly beautiful and there is a large pool that you can swim in if you brought your suit!

It's defintly a very nice place to have a refreshing swim. Considering that the place is privatly owned and one has to pay 20 Cordobas to enter to the place they could consider to put at least a trash can and once in a while clean the place from garbage.

We decided not to go through a company and on a tour for this one. We left around 1300 and got home around 1700, without seeing the carvings. There were six of us and we simply walked to the Panamerican and hitchhiked. We even got a ride all the way to the entrance, which was about a 10min drive from where we were. We hiked to the waterfall for maybe 20-25mins taking the river walk and not paying C$20 to take the easy road. The waterfall was nice, not the best I've ever seen, but it was tranquil. You can swim, climb, drink, whatever basically. Water is cold! Didn't hitchhike out and took a little over an hour to get back to the Panamericana. Worth it to do on your own only.

Not easy to get to once off the main road but a lovely little cove with a waterfall you can swim under

This is a must see if you visit Esteli. Hidden in the mountains about 45 minute drive through hills and dirt roads west of Esteli with mountainous landscape views of the city you will find this waterfall. After another 20 minute hike down a steep dirt road you will turn the corner and be greeted by this majestic view. It certainly is something else. It's a gorge carved through the mountain over God knows how many years. It's worth the exhaustive hike back up the steep road during the hot day, but hopefully you will be refreshed after a nice swim under the falls.

The road to the falls is dirt, with a fairly steep hill down to the parking area. I had a load of people in a four wheel drive truck. Nice to visit, small admission to get in. Do not visit any off the beaten path areas alone, you stand a good chance of being robbed. There were other tourists there and some locals. Nice to visit.

Beautiful place, rough road. Maybe 2km walk to the falls. Steps down. Maybe not for limited mobility?

We walked from Esteli and it turned in to nice half-day trek. The first part through city is with a lot of traffic, but once you get behind the hospital, you walk in nice nature. Be aware, that the nearest place to buy water is about 6km far and that there is law possibility to get someone to drop you there or back. So take enough water and some fruit. The entrance cost 20C$.

After a rather short hike through a dry, leafless area of trees, we came upon this oasis! The road to the waterfall is a bit rough on dirt roads, but worth the drive.

It wasn't spectacular... but nice to swim in on a hot day. Don't go alone, I've heard of people getting robbed. We went with our guide and driver and were left alone. Water was clean and awesome to swim in. Downfall was the trash on the small beach with used condoms.... Have a friend hold your belongings if you go for a swim as you are always being watched. From where you park the car and the main road there is a stone carving store that you must stop into. Very inexpensive stone carvings that are really nice!

If you have never seen a waterfall, it probably is quite amazing, but if you already have seen one, this is just another waterfall. It is unique in Esteli though. And a nice place for a swim on hot days. And the walk to the waterfall is a nice walk. If you go, go during the week, it gets really crowded during the weekend.

This waterfall was beautiful. Clean swimming, cold water, what more could you ask for? Entrance was $1 and a guide was $2 more. You don't really need a guide, the short trail is on your left not far from the gate, or you can follow the road to a set of cement steps on the left. Pretty easy hike, I did it with a stroller.

If you are in Miraflores and the waterfall is nearby where you are staying or hiking, then go see it. But if not, don't lose heart that you did not see it. It is beautiful but nothing so spectacular. A great place to picnic and take a break on your visit.

I went from esteli hospital walking towards thewaterflls waiting for a car to pass by and do hitchhiking... I walked almost all the 4km when a car popped up! but the walk on the road is very nice! Then I headed to the sculpted rocks and the mirador that also worth the dtour! La garnacha village was not very worth though!
