It just goes to show how completely empty, isolated and boring resorts like Xbalanque and Beach House get high scores on trip advisor in spite of not even being 1* resorts.... But an actual 5* gorgeous property with THE best beach, a natural rock wall, a beautiful infinity pool and amazing service are ranked like #70???Just because a place is ranked highly on TripAdvisor does not ensure it's luxurious. This place is gorgeous

We have just had the wonderful experience of staying and eating at the Grand Roatan for a week. Accommodation was of a very high standard and kept immaculately clean. The highlight for us though, was the fabulous food where it was obvious that we had chosen the best place as numbers joining us from the other beach resorts grew as the news of the excellent food, drink and staff travelled. Staying at the resort had some nice benefits, such as the use of the loungers on the beach. We cannot recommend this beautifully positioned location enough.

Definitely try the bacon wrapped shrimp! It is unbelievable! We went back for a second time because the first time only one of us had the bacon shrimp and we all wanted it. Best restaurant in West Bay! Beautiful view and it is right by the beach where they have the best snorkelling, the reef is right on the beach. This also looks like a great place to stay. I just read a review on a customer that is annoyed that they could not use the beach chairs. They do not allow customers to swim in their pool, which is a good thing. If you want to go swimming in a pool there is Mayan Princess that allows you to swim in their pool and also Infinity Bay next door (they have a large pool). If I were to go stay in West Bay, I think I would stay at the Grand Roatan. Their rentals are all new, they have the best food and it is a relaxing setting. (Although if you want a truly relaxing setting I would go to Tranquil seas in Sandy Bay.) (Infinity next door does not have that feel as they let all cruise ships come and swim in their pool all day). I am sure the people staying at Grand Roatan appreciate having the pool in a more relaxed setting. Grand Roatan has a beautiful pool. They have great fish, shrimp and great ribs!

We went there with friends to spend the day. We wanted to eat, have some drinks and snorkel. They would not allow us to use the beach chairs, even if we planed to spend money there. We could only sit at a table with chairs, not allowed on the chaise lounges on the beach. Food is OK, higher prices than elsewhere on the beach. Won't be going back there anytime soon.

The resort and its restaurant is the last one on West Bay Beach, closest to the iron shore. The view is great, even on stormy days when waves are breaking over the iron shore outcroppings. But back to the food. We tried the jalapeno sea bass and it was fabulous. We also really enjoyed the ribs as they were just like I liked them - fall off the bone type. If you are there with several family members or friends, don't be afraid to try the seafood platter. There was so much food and so many choices that everyone should be able to eat a little of everything and enjoy it. Ezra, the bartender, is excellent, and Terry, the manager, came over from the Vintage Pearl. Terry has really made this place one of the top restaurants on the beach. Don't forget to check out the pool, especially at night, as it is quite beautiful.

We spent 2 weeks in Roatan at the end of Sep and could hardly stay away from the restaurant at the Grand Roatan. Loved the jalapeno sea bass , the wings, the coconut shrimp and the drinks and service. Don't miss the opportunity if you can eat here. I can guarantee a lovely evening with great people.

This beach was amazing - you can walk out into the water for a long while and it's soft sand without any seaweed or rocks. Love it!

We stayed in The Grand for Spring Break 2014 and loved it. The people were friendly and the facility was great. They were so helpful and I can not wait to go back. I wish the flights to Roatan were more reasonably priced. The beds are very comfortable and the sheets are great. The AC rocks! I do wish we could have used the W/D. We snorkled and dove right in front of the hotel. The water is crystal clear and just amazing

While staying just down the Beach we decided to try The Grand Roatan and found the food Great and the Beer Cold!! The Garifuna soup was excellent, Lobsters were the largest we had on our trip (we had 14 in 7 days) and service was great. We made this stop several times during our stay on Roatan and will be back.

Right next to the iron shore and the shallow reef system with crystal clear ocean, is The Grand. It has a beautiful bar and outdoor restaurant on the beach with a few steps to the ocean. The food is unique and delicious. Loved the staff.

My wife and I stopped there while on a cruise excursion and just loved it. The most scenic beach with great outdoor restaurant. We both had a 1/2 lb lobster tail. It was excellent. Drinks were great. The view looking out to the water was like a post card. Beautiful beach and nice swim area. One of the highlights of our trip.

We stopped in for lunch while out walking the beach. The service was great and the food was among the best we had on the island. My wife and girls had the Lobster Burgers which turned out to be large chucks of lobster served burger style. I had the Garifuna Culture Soup which was a tasty soup chock full of Conch, Shrimp, Fish, and one good sized whole lobster tail. Total bill for 4 with Beers, Sodas, Food, and Tip was around $80. Definitely money well spent. As for the location, it would be tough to find a more beautiful beach to eat lunch and snorkle.

While walking the beach we stopped to talk with Herbie the security gaurd who was extremely kind and very knowledgeable with the area. Since the property is relatively new we were invited to stay on the beach and use chairs and umbrellas provided we patronized the bar which we were happy to do. Lunch was fabulous and the service provided by "Tashie" our bartender was friendly and entertaining. We were escorted to Erika by Herbie for a tour of the property later in the day and the place looked amazing. As we were already booked at another location for the duration of our stay we suggested some travelers that were meeting us later in the week adjust their itinerary and stay here. They were extremely happy with the accomodations. We came back to enjoy an awesome dinner the following night with Fabricio our server who did a wonderful job keeping drinks fresh. Food was excellent and presentation was fabulous.Looking forward to a stay here in the future.

Beautiful property and location but needs work on how they present themselves. The staff was friendly and tried hard to provide quality service. First- the TV volume was competing with the music. Second- an item that we ordered was forgotten. Third- out of fish taco's but had fried fish sticks. Fourth- seemed like the staff was being trained and was out of sync. We just expected that with this lovely facility and location things should have been better.

We stumbled upon Grand Roatan while walking West Bay beach and immediately loved the staff, the beach and the snorkeling. Of our 14 day trip to Roatan, in week 1 we spent 3 separate days here and a few hundred dollars. We loved Ezra, he completely understood service and really went above and beyond. We had a lot of local beer, sea bass (ask for the jalepeno sauce on the side), burgers, shrimp tacos, and the fish sandwich on our various visits. On some days you could use the chairs (depending on capacity at the resort) and on others, we sat in the palapa bar area. We loved the lit up onyx bar at night and decided to stop in New Years Eve to have a drink. Unfortunately, on this evening, we were intentionally shorted changed when paying. After confronting the young male bartender re: the change he said “Oh, I thought you were having more drinks” and when we said “NO, we asked for the bill to pay and paid which means we’re done” he begrudgingly gave us our $4 back. Ironically, that same evening they had a wonderful singer, Angela, for entertainment and we had given her a $5 tip --so it wasn’t about the $4. I was so upset at the dishonesty (knowing we’d come here on multiple occasions and had a great experience) that I spoke with the female Manager on duty. My husband and I both felt the young bartender had intentionally tried to cheat us and we’d not experienced that in Roatan at all so we were both very upset and went home for the evening not celebrating New Years on the beach. Although I really wanted to go back and discuss the incident with Ezra (because he was not working the night of New Years and I felt he should know what happened), I just couldn’t get over the intentional theft so we did not visit Grand Roatan again. I hope the employee was reprimanded or no longer working for Grand Roatan but my advice when visiting here, always count your change and get a copy of your bill. Although a very nice resort, employees ripping off customers will sour the experience immensely.
