The family stayed 2 nights at Grand Park Otaru. The brewery is within a comfortable 10 minute walk from the hotel. It is next to a 7-11 store. It is in the direction to Otaru Canal from Grand Park Hotel.The self guided tour is short but educational. They have placards in Japanese meant for locals as well. Free tasting of sake is available. The prices are competitive. Very useful destination if you are walking towards the Canal area

It was a little more difficult to get to this brewery in all the snow but definitely worth it if you are a sake lover. They have a simple self guided tour and you can try several different sakes. They even had one especially for the Snow Festival! They also sell various treats and beautiful Japanese paper.

We enjoyed very very much!The Company Tanaka SAKE Brewery,they have a strong Service spirit!They hold a countdown party on New Year's Eve.Every one can take part in it without reservation.Participation is free of charge. Do you know the Japanese "yuku-toshi, kuru-toshi"?It means "Ring out the old year, ring in the new"They changed the words from "toshi" to "SAKE"andpunned on a word "yuku-SAKE,kuru-SAKE"!That is the name of the party!The party starts at 23:00. 31th Dec.Please don't worry if you arrive early. We arrived at 22:40, but the several people had already gathered. They greeted us with SAKE (FURUMAI-ZAKE) and you may drink several cups of it.23:00,it starts and they ｄistribute,in order,Japanese Buckwheat Noodles (with herring) called 'toshikoshi-soba'.During until 24 o'clock, they look for "Toshion'na & Toshiotoko(Women and men who were born in a year with the same sign of the Chinese zodiac as the current year)" in the hall.5 persons limited!Year of Birth Animals for 2014 is Horse.Some person raised their hands by oneself and got the tickets to take part in ”KAGAMIBIRAKI” ceremony.It means ”breaking open a ceremonial SAKE barrel with wooden hammer".5 persons were passed the happi coats, and they wear them. About 15 minutes ago of 24:00, The short greetings by the president of TANAKA company etc began. Then, starting the countdown to the New Year together. The barrel is swatted and opened by five persons on 0:00 just January 1. Many people watched affectionately it. The Sake in the Barrel which was opened is distributed to all the people(20 years old and older, non-driver).We made a toast with everyone. KUSUDAMA (The decorative paper ball) which was hung from a ceiling was opened with a shout of joy！They begin selling new SAKE. Freshly made! It is bran-new "HATSUSHIBORI"We get one lottery ticket when we buy it one bottle. We draw lots on the upstairs.1st prize of 2014 was the "sake for one year." After that, in the hallway,they will distribute the "OSHIRUKO(sweet red-bean soup with rice cake)"The colors are red and white as a sign of celebration. You can take a break or continue shopping until 1:30.By twos and threes, they went away and the party was closed. We enjoyed very very much.

Somewhat disappointed to find the English language options of this self-guided walking your of a small sake brewery were only a handful of short descriptions, but then again it doesn't seem as though foreigners are the main audience anyhow. Left without learning too much about the brewing process, yet sated with free samples at the end of the tour!

1階に売店、田中酒造のおいしいお酒、たくさん置いています。試飲もできます。2回にもお酒を造る工場です。一周を回して、酒造りの工程が分かるようにまります。使っているお米も見ることができます。勉強になりました。

観光施設ではないですが、建物や工場は観る価値があります。また、なによりもこちらは小樽の美味しいお酒を試飲し、気に入ったものを購入することができます。小樽駅からは少し離れていますので、試飲される方はぜひタクシーを利用してください。

車で行ったので試飲せずに買いましたが、途中ツアーバスが入るたびに高いテンションの団体さんがいらっしゃいます。別に気にしなければ良いのですが、やはりここはバスで大勢で行って試飲しながら美味しいお酒を買う方が楽しそうですね。

小さな質問にも、丁寧に答えてくれました。お酒は、日本酒だけじゃなくて、ワインなどもあります。お酒のつまみも、いっぱいありました。

いろいろなお酒を試飲させてくれました一番美味しいと思ったお酒を買って帰りました魔法の一滴 本みりんも買って帰りました

バスツアーで工場見学に行きました。歴史ある建物も良いです。試飲が楽しいので車で行かないほうがいいですね。

酒樽から匂う懐かしい匂い。丁寧な案内。試飲がおすすめなので車で行かない方がよい。ゆっくり見ても30〜40分くらいですむ。

明治38年に建てられた建物は、歴史を感じました。日本酒の工場を案内していただき、お酒が飲めなくても、楽しめます。こちらで、作られたお酒は日本一になったそうです。お酒の試飲も出来ますが、黒豆茶も頂くことができます。

日本酒には詳しくありませんが楽しめました。種類も豊富にあり、手ごろな値段からいろいろあります。買った日本酒は香りも良くて美味しかったです。日本酒のカステラなどもうっています＾＾ここの酒粕で甘酒や鍋を楽しんでいます。そこまで大きなところではないですが、次から次へと人が出入りしていました。

お酒の種類が豊富で選ぶのに大変迷いましたが、店員の方が知識豊富で丁寧に教えてくださいました。また、お酒以外のおつまみ、お菓子なども置いていて「酒かすせんべい」も大変おいしかったです。

亀甲蔵は明治３８年に建てられた石倉で小樽の歴史的建造物に指定されている。２階に上がると日本酒の製造過程が見学できる。所々にある日本酒にかかわるクイズを解きながら回ると一層日本酒の知識を得られる。見学が終わると１階に下りて、日本酒の試飲ができる。しぼりたて生原酒ほか１０種類も用意されている。アルコールがダメでも煎餅が試食できる。
