Made a day trip to Iligan to visit this place. Unfortunately the place was crowded due to weekends, don't be mistaken by the photographs I took them where the crowd was not concentrated in the area. You'll have to climb hundreds of steps downhill and uphill after the viewing is done. Water temperature is close to room and so far the warmest I had ever experienced in my tour in the country. Not worth it in my opinion. Recommend Tumalog falls with fish spa in Oslob, Cebu if you're going there. There're Sumilon island and whale shark watching in addition if keen.

it is a beautiful place I think everyone on this planet should see. Although I don't want to say so as I am worried it will become commercialized. But it does deserve a review. This place is in my opinion one of the most beautiful places on earth. Getting down to the falls is long and includes hundreds of steps as I remember over 500, but once there you feel younger. I went with my wife's grandmother who was about 78 and I was worried about her making the distance. Not only did she make the distance when she got there she looked in her mid 50s we all noticed how well the visit treated her.If the water is flowing well it comes down on 3 sides of the canyon. Such an insanely beautiful place. So if you are in the southern area of the Philippines near the city of Illigan City, go see these beautiful falls after all Illigan City, is the city of waterfalls,

It took our breath away literally due to the fact that it was a bit hard to get to the fall and out of the fall's area. Beautiful and clean surroundings.

We hired a taxi at a cost of P800 to visit both Tinago and Maria Cristina Falls. The trip from Plaza Alamenia Hotel took 34 minutes, the walk and descent to the falls 25 minutes. From the car park with its sari sari store the walk is 800 metres to the start of the steps into the valley. That one has to descend what my local guide insisted was 365 at times steep steps to get to these magnificent hidden falls adds to their beauty. The falls are surrounded by magical forest. On the way back we came across a small venomous black snake. Rest if you feel tired climbing. The falls cascade in multiple places and make tremendous photographs. The water is very refreshing. The toilet could do with renovation. There is a raft at the falls, while paying guides 100 pesos each is well worth it.

We had a blast when we visited Tinago Falls. The weather wasn't perfect: it was cold and raining, but we didn't miss the opportunity for a swim. Apparently, quite a number of people didn't mind the bad weather because the place was packed with visitors. I appreciated that the guides were mindful of the visitors' safety by asking swimmers to wear life jackets and keep away from areas at risk of a rock fall. However, the guides were very few, and failed to dissuade daredevils, even children, from jumping off tall tree branches or from the side of a cliff. The facilites could use a renovation, particularly the steps, bathrooms, and guest tables. Like most other reviewers here, I didn't mind the steep stair climb so much as it was taking me farther away from this extraordinary place.

Scaling up and down the falls is a test to your physical endurance. About 500 winding steps make you drop or stop. Careful. Others were known to have had troubled breathing spells; worse, have fainted by the sheer exhaustion. But the reward is great-a lovely cathedral Falls-very inviting for raft ride or skinny dip. Test your endurance and fitness-take this trip to the Tinago Falls. Dont forget to bring two spare Tshirts and about five towels for that copious perspiration-but so cooling and refreshing. A cool coco drink is the best for hydrating. Enjoy Tinago Falls! Celebrate mother nature!

This place is just one out of the 18 majestic waterfalls in Iligan City. I visited the place a lot but I still find it amazing. You need to go down around two hundred breathtaking steps and release all your stress with the soothing aura of the place. A must see place!

Our visit to "Tinago" falls was actually unplanned. What we had in our itinerary that day was the Maria Cristina Falls and the Macapagal Ancestral House, but when we tried Maria Cristina Falls at 7 A.M., we were told by the security guards that the place will still be open to public only at 9 A.M. Not to waste precious time, we immediately inquired if there are other tourist attractions worth visiting and we were told to try Tinago Falls - then off we went to the place. From the main road, we turn left, then passed through a rough road for about thirty (30) minutes to the parking area. From the parking area, you need again to trek down more than 500 steep steps to get to the bottom of the falls. It may be tiresome but when you reach the bottom of the falls you will be mesmerized by the fall's beauty! The water is cold and refreshing & the color of the water is alternately blue and green. TIPS:1. Bring a bottled water. You will be sweating a lot climbing up the 500 stairs so you need to replenish body fluids.2. You also need to bring a face towel to freshen up after the hike from the bottom of the falls.3. Either you pee before/after going down/up to/from the falls because there is no restroom on the way down to the falls or at the bottom of the falls. Restroom is located at the parking are.4. I suggest that before going to Tinago Falls, do a little bit of stretching so that your muscles won’t be strained too much. I had no exercise at all when we went there so I suffered for almost four (4) days.5. To those who are suffering from heart ailment/disease, I suggest that you just be contented with the view from afar - don't go down. It's better to be cautious than sorry. 6. If you visit the place during rainy season, the trail will be slippery so please be careful with your steps.7. Be polite to the attendants.HAVE FUN!

Tinago Falls is a 20min ride out of town, you take a dirt road through a village to the carpark, and then have a very steep trek down 400 odd stairs to get to the bottom of the falls but it is well worth the effort. The falls themselves are around 50m high and flow into a large pool that is cool and refreshing after the big trek down. There is a raft you can ride across to get closer to the falls, i just swam over the other side. Very nice and very cool place to swim, a must see in Iligan

This is my all time favorite! Worth the hard work in trekking down the steps. I love this place and this is where I will retire. There are fee's lately which unfortunately I cannot provide the details. I go there for free by virtue of being local and where I spend half of my life.

This is located in deep ravine that is why it is called "Tinago" falls or hidden. You have to take 500 spiraling steps to see the beautiful falls. The cold water lagoon changes in blue and green color. Going there in a weekdays is the best so you can own the paradise. Most of the people came to see and unwind during weekend. There is no amenities there so just think like your trekking nearby. You can take a jeepney from the city that will take you to Ditucalan.

When my mother-in-law made plans for us to visit, I told my wife I had a certain expectation on visiting the Philippines. I wasn't necessarily prepared for much of what I saw, but during our visit to Tinago I encountered the closest distillation of what I pictured in my mind. Tinago represents the lush natural beauty combined with the power of the elements and is something I'll truly remember for the rest of my life. Much of the details such as transport, payment, and hiring the staff was with family members, so I can't give you much information. But I can tell you that spending several hours in the cool, clean waters while a huge waterfall powers down the cliffs was like something from a film script. Oddly, many visitors opt to take photos and set up little tables for picnic style meals. Not me; I came to swim and swim I did. You can opt for a life-vest and while I declined, I could see the value as you will tire from treading water so much. Still, it was easy to float on my back to give my arms a break. The staff will carry your items down, ferry you across on the bamboo raft, take your photos, and help you climb a wall so you can jump from 30-50 feet up a rock wall. One of the guides offered to jump from over 100 feet (this was an attempt to secure a bigger bribe, but frankly worth seeing) and seeing others do so instilled a sense of awe at the skills on display. The stairs up will wear you out, but the visit was one that will replenish your soul leave you wanting to return again.

One of the most beautiful falls I've experienced! We went with a big group during the "off" season. So we almost had the area to ourselves with a few of the friendly locals. This is truly a gem but I kept thinking they should call it the "hidden falls with many steps" It is so worth the hike! we hired a Jeepney for our group who took us directly to it. There is a short hike thru the village at the top of the falls and then a donation stop for the maintenance and up keep for the falls. Small snacks are available her also. Continue the hike thru a run down "start-up" to what looked like the start of a resort. So glad that it never took off. Keep on going till ya hit the stairs....just go with it but keep in mind you gotta come back up all those 500+ steps. But trust me it is soooo woth it! The hand rails on the way are a little sketchy so don't rely on them. 20 minutes into the hike the falls become visible. The cascade at the bottom was the most beautiful blue. There is a raft that the locals would gladly take you out to the falls on for the "waterfall back massage." The water was really not as cold as I thought it was going to be and the water was quite clear. The kids in our group swam across the other side and gave it ago jumping off the cliff face on the other side. I would highly recommend this one and give yourself plenty of time for the return trip back up the stairs. Just take them slow and steady and it's manageable.

Very beautiful. Bring your swimming trucks and your camera. Water is very refreshing. My only warning is it's at least 500 steps down a very steep hill.
