When going through the centre of Camagüey, take a few minutes to look inside this church. Not too ostentateous, some imposing statues and carvings.

Located at Plaza de los Trabajadores, it is Camagüey’s most distinguished church and at one point the largest in Cuba. A parishioner inside the church tried to explain to me its history — a chapel was built here in 1601 and some kind of miraculous figure ascended to heaven from there. The present church was erected in 1748 and later rebuilt twice, once due to a fire. The Holy Sepulchre (Santo Sepulcro) was cast from 25,000 silver coins some 250 years ago. There are a few very old, darken paintings in the church. Under the main altar is a crypt housing a small museum with various old church artifacts uncovered at the church as well as several old collapsed tombs with bones and skulls. There is a cloister adjacent to the church with a lovely garden.

If you are in Camaguey .Imposing well restored building in a pretty plaza .You enter the church through a garden .The main feature is the silver altar covered in silver coins which is very effective .

This is a beautiful church approached through a delightful garden. There is not charge for entrance or the guide but donations to the church funds are welcomed. The altar is magnificent and just to its right is a shimmering, multi-tiered coffin made from silver coins. Beneath the altar area is a tiny crypt.

Я весь город Камагуэй обожаю! Считаю его самым красивым городом на Кубе (историч центр), жаль что он так мало известен широкому кругу туристов. Вся площадь, где находится эта церковь как один памятник, очень красивая. Там очень тихо и умуротворяющее (в будни днем). Внутри Церкви не удалось побывать, в следующую поездку обязательно!

Эта церковь находится в Камагуэе на площади Plaza de los Trabajadores. Построена в самом начале 17 века. Хорошо отреставрирована, как и большинство церквей в городе. В церкви справа от входа находится изготовленная мексиканским скульптором из 23 тысяч пожертвованных серебряных монет Святая Гробница с изображением Христа. Красивый алтарь.

in pieno centro e stile di Camaguey....da qui parte anche una passeggiata pedonale tra negozi di vario genere. Nei dintorni ci sono anche bar e ristoranti. Scegliete una casa particular in modo da raggiungere a piedi Plaza de los Trabajadores e siete a posto!

Pues me impresiono muchisimo su interior tan hermosamente decorado, sus retablos, sus pinturas, sus tallas de santos, estructura y el sillon del Papa Juan Pablo II cuando visito Camaguey en 1998. Destaco su claustro que fue utilizado como cuartel de tropas espanolas en la guerra de 1895 al 98 en Cuba, amen de sus catacumbas tan bien conservadas y grandiosas, llenas de tesoros incalculables.

Cuenta con un patio maravillos. Además, pueden visitar las catacumbas y ver valiosos y muy antiguos objetos. UN lugar muy especial para los católicos.

Esta parroquia está llena de historia. Sin ella no se comprende al Camagüey de la historia. Además de un interior bien cuidado tiene catacumbas, cosa que uno esperaría en Roma pero no en el Caribe. El tour por el lugar está bien estructurado y todo es muy interesante.

Me gustan mucho las iglesias de Camaguey, especialmente la Merced, alli voy cada vez que visito Camaguey, El restaurant El carmen es nuevo,buen trto de los empleados, muy bonito con pintura del balet Carmen, pero la comida no tiene muy buena calidad para mi gusto, la paella solo sabia a comino y sirven para una cantidad que alcanza para 4 persona, si no te la comes hay que botarla.La ciudad es muy bonita el centro, la calle maseo y republica la han puesto muy bonida para el 500 aniversario de la fundacion, pienso estar alla para esa fecha

Viel lässt sich aus meiner Sicht nicht zu dieser Kirche sagen. Es handelt sich um ein barockes Bauwerk, das zwei Türme hat und von außen recht nett anzuschauen ist. Das beste ist ihre Lage an der netten Plaza del Carmen. Wenn man diesen Platz besucht, lohnt sicher auch ein Blick in die Kirche. Eigens für das Gotteshaus würde ich nicht hierher kommen.
