It's a magnificent villa that once belong to a venezuelan that owned 7 sugar fields in Cuba and whose hobby was to collect napoleonic pieces, after the revolution he left Cuba and the villa becames this atonishing museum. Again, only in Paris I have seen the richness of the architectural details of this villa, the napoleonic stuff is amazing: swords, uniforms, hats, weaponry, etc. Very well restored and maintained. Can't wait to go again to Havana!

After my visit to the Museo Napoleónico in Vedado, in July '14, it isn't difficult to understand why this is considered a favourite attraction in Havana.The immense Florentine-styled building that houses the museum is elegant, indeed suitable for an emperor. The upper story terrace provides a great view of the surrounding area of Vedado, and a back courtyard contains a simple and serene space amidst Havana's bustle.The massive collection of artifacts, pertaining to the Napoleonic era and a few from the man himself, was gathered over time by millionaire Julio Lobo Olavarría, and was opened to the public in 1961. This collection offers an amazing variety of objects in pristine condition, all tastefully presented in a spacious and well-maintained setting.For military buffs, there are displays of uniforms, arms and regalia. For art, antique and history fans, memorabilia ranges from dishware, time pieces, personal effects, etc. Paintings are plentiful and some canvases will be familiar. Artworks are incorporated into other forms as well, .. enameled table tops, stained glass, statues and furniture, and plenty of it. The library's many bookshelves of vintage publications is very impressive. In the bedroom, you'll find a stately bed in the company of a regal-looking chamber pot! This room also contains Napoleon's death mask, made by his last physician. Unfortunately for non-Spanish-speaking viewers, all description tags are in Spanish only, although there are a few English-speaking attendants on site. A sign at the front desk that states no tipping is allowed, but you may expect otherwise.Personally my only gripe about this facility is that, in a museum as beautiful and opulent as this one, why is it impossible to provide a toilet seat in the public washroom?

Napoleon, in Cuba? Yes - weird, but very interesting collection. Also a nice look into one of the big, amazing houses in Havana.

This is easily the best museum in Havana for a couple of reasons. 1st, it contains the finest collection of Napoleon artifacts outside of France! Amazing to think it is tucked away in a quiet corner of Havana. Second, the building is based on a Florentine Palace built in the late 1920s for the Cuban Ambassador to the United States and the First Director of UNESCO. Third, it is a complete collection of paintings, sculptures, furniture, artifacts, weapons with many directly owned/attributable to Napoleon himself. Please note that it is forbidden for the guides to ask you for tips/money so if they do, please report the incident to the museum administration. The entry fee is cheap and photography is permitted. Give yourself at least an hour or two to tour the place. It is a short ($10) cab ride from the old city and worth a morning or afternoon. Don't miss it.

Un musée surprenant à Cuba et pourtant très intéressant, avec énormément d'objets d'époque et beaucoup de beaux livres sur le sujet, le cadre est splendide et offre une superbe vue sur la Havane du dernier étage.A voir absolument.

Situé près de l'Université de LA HAVANE, dans le beau manoir "La Dolce Dimora", ce musée dédié à NAPOLEON, renferme des trésors amassés par le milliardaire collectionneur Julio Lobo Olavarria. Découverte surprenante du plus important musée hors de France sur Napoléon. Belle exposition, belle mise en valeur des meubles et objets dans les vastes pièces de cette propriété : salle à manger, salon, bureau, chambre à coucher, bibliothèque. J'ai particulièrement aimé la collection d'armes, les nombreux livres (rares) de la bibliothèque, les vases décorés magnifiques, les guéridons décorés d'émaux représentant les portraits de la famille de Napoléon, la collection de soldats de plomb représentant les armées en conflit avec celle de Napoléon, l'exceptionnel secrétaire dans la chambre à coucher ainsi que le masque mortuaire de Napoléon. A VOIR !!!! Difficile de comprendre que les tours opérateurs ne s'intéressent pas à ce musée qui ne figure dans aucun de leur programme.......

EL Museo Napolènico en La Habana, Cuba, no puede dejarse de visitar, es muy interesante lo que se siente al visitar cada habitaciòn. Tiene algo peculiar que le da una gran singularidad, pues te atrapa su misticismo que te lleva aquellos dìas de la existencia de Napoleòn, de su guerras, de sus victorias, que tal te parece que Napoleón está vivo ahì en ese lugar. Ademàs , puedes disfrutar de una buena y alta vista desde la altura de la gran terraza. Nunca olvidaràs ese lugar.

Visité la primera vez el Museo Napoleónico cuando aún era muy joven, me despertaba curiosidad ver cómo en mi país había tamaña colección. Hace poco, estuve nuevamente, el Museo está impecable después de una meticulosa restauaración siendo reinagurado en 2011. Y si, me sigue asombrando. Es un lugar donde todos los que visiten La Habana deben ir y los que vivimos en ella, no dejar de ir.

En un maravilloso edificio Renacentista se encuentra la 2da. coleccion mas grande dedicada al Emperador Napoleon, aqui se asento Julio Lobo y con el una de las mayores colecciones sobre Napoleon.Pistolas, Sables, un diente, su cepillo dental y la colcha que lo cubrio en Santa Helena , y si a esto le ñades una de las bibliotecas mas hermosas y calificadas.El Museo Napoleonico de La Habana es digno de conocer para saber como en una pequeña Islita, se le tiene un profundo amor a quien fue simplemente Buonaparte.

Неожиданный для Гаваны этот интересный музей находится в районе Ведадо, недалеко от отелей Ведадо и Гавана Либре. Идти от выхода из Гавана Либре налево, по дороге заодно можно посмотреть на университет с лестницей и памятником Альма Матер наверху лестницы. Коллекцию музея собирал какой-то богатый кубинец, сахарный магнат, который почитал Наполеона. Вход - 5 CUC, билет не дали, за фото надо дополнительно заплатить. В музее есть личные вещи Наполеона (зубная щетка, горшок, оружие, треуголка и др.), его портреты, скульптуры, посмертная маска. Есть даже зуб Наполеона. Много разных шпаг, пистолетов, пушечки, посуда, мебель, обстановка и книги той эпохи, живопись, мундиры. Есть макет с войсками. Музей располагается в красивом здании на 4 этажах, есть терраса с красивым видом на Гавану. Женщины смотрительницы в залах стараются показать самое интересное, что-то рассказывают, говорят по-испански, но многое интуитивно понятно. Естественно потом просят денежку. Одной я дал 10 национальных песо (не CUC), другой дал полную ладошку карамелек. На последнем этаже смотрительница - молодая красивая девушка. Если Вы в Гаване надолго или не в первый раз, да и вообще любителям музеев рекомендую посетить этот музей. Работает он с 9 или с 10 утра.
