This National Park is a great visit for those interested in seeing some of Hispaniola's endemic birds and bird life in general. There are some of the last intact rainforests in the area as well as pine forests. Deforestation for agriculture, largely avocados for export, is occurring by Dominicans along the Haitian border. Please note that this park is remote and should be accessed only with a 4x4 and a courageous driver. Bring plenty of water, food, and be prepared to get inventive if you get stuck.
