Golf does not get much better than this. My son-in-law, General Manager of Cobblers Cove in Barbados, introduced me to Apes Hill in December 2014. I was prepared initially to believe it would be a typical Caribbean course, good but not memorable. How wrong I was. Apes Hill is a gem unrivaled by any other course on the Island and would stand in the top 100 golf courses in the British Isles if it was located there. The design, layout and character is of the highest standard. Every hole feels as if it has been designed to give pleasure to all standards of golfers. I don't believe there is one weak hole. The course length of over 7000 yards may seem intimidating at first but there are four tee position on each hole thus allowing golfers of all standards to enjoy each hole. The views to both the west and east of the island are stunning. At times it seems quite a challenge to decide whether to admire the view or enjoy the layout of the hole being played.Of particular note is the challenge of amen corner, holes 12 to 14. You will want to play them over and over again. The greens are well designed with plenty of slopes and borrows and play best when there has been little rain.Ben Hatch, Golf Manager, ensures you get a first class welcome and his staff will do their utmost to ensure that you get a good experience.Golf carts equipped with good quality clubs, sat nav and a box of iced water are supplied within the green fee and a club cart will keep you supplied with sandwiches, beers, soft drinks and chocolate as you go round. All round I would rate Apes Hill as one of the best and enjoyable courses I have ever played and I have played 33 of the top 100 golf courses of the British Isles.Don't miss out on this one.It is a golfers' paradise.

Dear Mark W,Many thanks for taking the time to write your review. At present we are operating from a temporary clubhouse which is a converted 'sugar plantation' and quite possible one of the best temporary clubhouses I have had the pleasure of working from. However, as you mentioned this is situated overlooking the 1st green, so 500 yards from the 1st tee. Our 'Golf Service Attendants' who met you on arrival, should have escorted to you the tee box, so my humblest apologies if this did not happen. We are all very excited about the construction of our permanent clubhouse which is under construction and due to be completed next Summer, located next to the 1st Tee box. Putting Green consistency is very important to us as well as speed, I hope you would agree the speed of the greens was consistent, however I have noted your preference for them to be slightly quicker. The wet season in Barbados ends close to the Christmas period and after a couple of weeks of sunshine, the putting green speed rapidly increases. Apes Hill Club was designed over a very impressive 400 acres of land, so rarely do you see another hole of golf while playing the course. Peace, tranquillity and spacious tee times helps you enjoy the golf course in your own time, at your own pace.I do hope you play again during your next visit to Barbados, and please feel free to contact me direct to arrange your tee time. Best wishes, Ben Hatch

Most interesting and aesthetically pleasing course I have played, the back nine is second to none! The mix of world class golf holes and pristine jungle that surrounds it made it for me the premier course in Barbados! I played Royal Westmoreland during my week long stay but for me Apes Hill was No 1! The whole experience was rounded off by the friendliest staff that made you feel welcome and comfortable!! Last but not least the round was completed in 3 and a half hours which is always a bonus!! All in all a top class experience!!

Thank you so much for your review, I am very glad you enjoyed your stay. The clubhouse is our temporary clubhouse right now but we have started construction on our main clubhouse which is due for completion December 2016. We plan on shattering expectations. Sorry that the monkeys on the back 9 were not there to assist, they tend to move from the back to the front in the afternoon.

Very attractive course and great staff. A must for all golfers visiting Barbados. Difficult 2 opening holes but then the course opens out and is a joy to play. Did not sample food but it looked very good.

Played here 4 times now and can't wait to go back again.I'm a golf nut and trust me you will be hard pushed to find anywhere as welcoming, with a course that is just fantastic.Challenging for sure, scenic...where else can you see both the Caribbean/Atlantic Oceans at one point - just go up there, enjoy and you'll want to go back.Buggies are great - Sat Nav fine (My Garmin Watch wouldn't work again!) - towels, bottled water in ice buckets standard) and great drinks service on the course.Think the world of this place as you can tell - wlecoming clubhouse - grand plans for a new one I saw - great staff and not stuffy like other courses on Barbados I won't mention. Thanks again Apes Hill - tremendous x
