I was so disappointed with this tour. We are always looking for different types of nature lover activities and this seemed to be perfect. San Cristobal is very nice but the tour itself wasn't at all what was advertised. The tour lasted 2 hours only, the one zip line was very short (nothing impressive at all) the tour guide did not stay with us. Everything about this tour was disappointing and 150$ is a rip off for what the tour was. Even if you can get the 45$ groupon deal i do not suggest going.

I visited the canyon with this company in December 2014. The tour cost was 150$ US per person and was supposed to last 3-4 hours. The guide told us that it will be extreme and dangerous, however it was far from that.In the begginning the tour guide walked with us and gave us some explanations, but he left after 30 minutes and left us with his assistants who did not say a word while we where walking around. We ended up finnishing in 2 hours (including a 30 minute break).150$ for a walk in the jungle with 2 mutes and to wear funny helmets for no reason.

The hike is absolutely worth it. I went for a Bachelorette party and it was the most fun we had on our trip to Puerto Rico. It is a bit challenging, for those who are not in shape, but even my couch-potato self was able to pull through (very slowly, and was one of the last ones out at the end). The tour guides are fun and friendly and very entertaining. My only complaint was with Groupon itself. There was some issue when I bought a few of the groupons and a month later I am still trying to settle the issue. So watch out.

I detailed it specifically & included contact information (since it was difficult for me to find on the web/not on TripAdvisor) at http://gorocketdog.blogspot.comAnyway, booked the excursion with another company who called me 3 days before the trip to reschedule since I was the only person boked on my trip. I explained I could not because I only had 1 day that I would be in the area, so the company upheld their end of the deal (never asked for my credit card or anything). The company's owner, Ricky, charged me an extra $20 USD I think because I was solo which is annoying, but okay I get it. Ricky actually was able to give me great directions through the winding Ruta Panoramica and set me up with a rustic place to camp the night before since I was solo! Ricky's son conducted the hike & we set off very early in the morning. Since it was just me we stopped at a panaderia too to pick up snacks -- so bring your own!The downward hike was difficult due to the slipperiness from the mountain rains/fog. My guide allowed me to stop for rests whenever. WEAR GOOD SHOES because it is soooo slick & the bottom of el canon is a bunch of uneven, wet rocks. Trekking along the river bottom was idyllic & my guide kept calling Ricky (the owner) to check the weather. I guess you do NOT want to be stuck there during a rain -- makes sense. I felt very safe, including when we rappelled down the canyon's side. The river was cold & it was a bit of a shock. You swim upstream to a waterfall that you then have to climb (using the cargo nets already in place). It's INTENSE and water is always in your face but it's a unique experience. I am 5'1" and average weight & some of the places inside the waterfall were tight even for me. Had to contort my body in odd ways & I was grateful for the helmet they supplied. After seeing a different waterfall, we ascended the same way and IT IS A WORKOUT! It's a steep climb, slippery like everything else & after the fun you've had, so physically demanding. With this company I felt safe, like my guide was knowledgeable about the history/area, and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. AGAIN, the company is difficult to find, but don't go with anyone else. Their contact info (at the time) is on the bottom page of my blog about El Canon de San Cristobal at http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

This guys are great! They know what they are doing and the experience even better. Definitively Puerto Rico does it better. There is a place for all levels of fitness. This is real family fun and adventure. Enjoy even the slips here and there. They got to the meeting point right on time and instructions were clear and safety measures not taken slightly. Once again guys, I look forward to another adventure with you there. Best wishes on your business!

It was a great experience! The guides were very careful to explain the rules of the adventure and made it a fun and new way for us to view the beauty of nature. Not recommended for people with back, knee, or ankle problems tho.

A trip hiking and trekking down the river inside the canyon has been an amazing experience that I will have to repeat. Using San Cristobal Hiking Tour was the best decision of this adventure. Visite el Cañón, es una aventura maravillosa.

Hi, sorry for your desception, the San Cristobal Canyon was used as a garbage site in the 1950, and in the 1973 they stop throwing trash overthere. That garbage is not our fault and is from iron that cannot be take it out. The Canyon is close to urban areas and they use the river for drinking purpose, the river is clean and the dam is to take water to the communities. The canyon is very nice, adventure and team work. The tour length is 2 to 3 miles really and the 1900 calories are for sure measure by 2 personal trainer from the island. The jumping to the water is 22 feet high and the rappelling area is exactly 62 feets high. The tour was made it as it was described. Anyway, sorry if you feel bad in our tour, we will try to do a better job to accomplish our visitors expectation based on the description of our tour. Thanks.. sammy

I got a Groupon rate of $45/person and our family decided to take an island adventure. You meet up at Cañon Bakery and then drive to the site. We all got life vests (required) and harnesses and then walked a bit on the road to go to the first area. We zip lined about 100 feet across a small river, but you are only about 15 feet up. It was not at all scary, but it was fun. We waited for everyone to cross and then hiked up the hill to the next adventure. We hiked down a man made fall and then got to the rappelling area. You can jump off the rocks into the water or rappel with the line down one of two choices. It was not a difficult rappel. We were lowered into the cool water and swam to the side to dry on the rocks. If you don't want to get wet, you could choose to hike down instead. We hiked along a bit more and then you could climb up and jump from a 15 foot ledge into a deep pool. The water was crystal clear too. We walked down river to a 300 foot waterfall. Be careful at the edge, this isn't DisneyWorld. You hike back up river and then go all the way back to the starting point except at the opposite side of the river. Then, you have to climb over the gate at the waste water treatment plant to come back onto the road. Tips for the guides are encouraged at the end. We probably only hiked about a mile total, but it took about four hours with the activities in between. Bring snacks, water and shoes that can get wet. Don't bring anything that can't get wet unless you don't want to do the rappelling part. I wished I had my good camera, but the warnings scared me off. Bring a change of clothes and shoes, but leave them in the car. I don't think I'd pay to go again, but it was a fun trip.
