palmas del mar golf club

I was staying in the resort in Palmas Del Mar...and i brought my clubs to play. i used the practice facility one day to warm up (which was very nice) and played 18 on the Palm course the next day. it is a Player design course with a few water view holes. the price was average for resort golf ($140), layout was nice but the bunkers were hard as a rock. Greens were nice and fast (the way i like them!). After my round i hit the grill room/bar and Carlos at the bar took good care of me. i struck up a conversation with two very nice locals and had a few beers! the pro shop and hot dog stand were very nice as well. All staff were VERY nice. all in all, a very nice facility, and memorable round!

Palmas is blessed with two very good golf courses, with multiple ocean holes on each course. The courses are well maintained. Personally I feel most of the fairways are tight as the Sandy soil compresses, it makes chipping an experience. Fairways are wide, not much trouble, however if your ball does stray to the rough it is gone, lost, forget about it. Bunkers are filled with compacted sand, shots are more difficult than out of than fluffy white silicone. Members all play before 0900, mad rush to beat the heat of day, however, afternoon temperatures are only 2-3 degrees warmer.There are a variety of green fees. Members and guests of members pay a substantially reduced rate. Guests at the hotel pay something else. But other visitors to Palmas pay $130 until 1:00pM. The courses get little play. I would suggest that the club offer a special price package for individuals having winter rentals for the season. The courses could easily accommodate 4 times the number of golfers it has on a daily basis.

Two highly enjoyable golf courses make the Palmas Del Mar area a wonderful place to base yourself. Good array of restaurants in the community. The beach is magnificent in terms of being natural, clean and interesting. Various forms of housing and accommodation abound - hotel room through seven bedroom homes. A great way to enjoy Puerto Rico!

We are members of Palmas Athletic Club - PAC. We have two excellent 18's; one designed by Pete Dye; the other by Gary Player; both have scenic holes right on the Caribbean. In addition to the golf courses, our membership includes a world class tennis club, (Davis Cup events held here), and a Beach Club our grandkids love! Shockingly large and beautiful area. I never expected such a large resort with so many amenities and attractions. Definitely a good place to bring a family if not everyone loves golf, because there is DEFINITELY something for everyone here.

The best golf club in the island. Great conditions and great service.The starter is always looking for ways to please you. The staff is very corteous and helpful. Easy to get tee times,seldom crowded.

Carlos' white sangria is a must...especially after a hot day of golf...refreshing!! And, one day, I didn't really know what I was in the mood to eat to go with my sangria, and Carlos listened to my likes and dislikes and said he'd bring me something...the chicken chicharonnes were perfect!

My friends and I love playing here. Reasonable priced scenic golf, bring a fishing pole because the ponds are loaded with tarpon.

Although is expensive I love the scenary, lovely sea and mountain view. Very peaceful. The clubhouse is very nice , you can have lunch, dinner or just a snack.Bring you own clubs to save some money. Besides this Palmas del Mar is great resort there is a lot of rental houses and apartments..great restaurants and more. I recommend that you browse in any search engine Palmas del Mar, Humacao Puerto Rico

This golf course is beautiful by the beach and a very nice resort. Be advised that playing the course is expensive $200. For 18 holes plus renting the clubs. Course is in beautiful setting and great weather. Very peaceful, not crowed so you have the course to yourself most to the game. Personnel are very nice and helpful. The resort itself is. It your usual resort with tons of amenities. Especially in the off season. They are limited to the number of restaurants that are open and services. All though it was not an issue at all as there are places off site to dine. Renting a car is a must if you want to get around.

Course was in good shape, beautiful scenery, pace of play was great. Great course for intermediate level player. Being an owner of Palmas del Mar would have been half the price.

The two golf courses were very nice and a reasonable value. We purchased a package of 5 rounds which made it even more affordable. The staff was quite friendly.

There are two fine courses here, each deserving of a specific review. The Flambo course is a Rees Jones design, opened in 1998. The course was in very good shape in early February; the grounds staff do an excellent job. Fairways are typically open, with generous landing areas. Water is in play on most holes. Traps are abundant. With a 7am tee time (the first of the day), I had the course to myself. Finished in just over 3 hours. Didn't see a soul until the cart lady came by early on the back nine. Water coolers (full of cold water!) are plentiful.The course is more than 7100 yards from the tips. I played the Whites - and found them an ample challenge at 6415 yards. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and its many challenges. FYI: This is not an ocean course. The Atlantic is not in play on any hole, and not really a visible part of the experience.The courses are owned and operated by the Palmas Athletic Club. It is a members-only corporation that permits non-members to play. For us, fees are $135 for either course, and $100 after 1pm. The owners of the condo I rented at Palmas del Mar are members of the Athletic Club, and promised me I would get discounted rates as a result. They lied.The manager of the golf shop explained that I must actually play with a member to qualify for discounted rates. I checked with three other proshop staff during subsequent visits; they confirmed her statements. Membership in the Palmas Athletic Club is open only to Palmas del Mar property owners. It serves as the Palmas del Mar Country Club. I note this to emphasize that the golf club staff were uniformly friendly, helpful and honest. I was treated as a fellow golfer, an attitude that I value and respect.I rated this course 'very good' due to two smaller yet significant weaknesses: the bunkers were simply too inconsistent. Most had many stones - big enough to chip a wedge. Sand quality varied tremendously - often in the same bunker - from deep and soft to grainy and thin. Secondly, there is little information about hole yardages. I understand that members don't need that information so much, but visitors like us certainly do. Each hole does have on-course markers (250,200,150,100) to the middle of the greens, but specific distances to hazards, pin placements, etc. are not available. The carts don't have GPS. I asked for and received a yardage book. It provides hole by hole graphics but cannot truly assist on most shots. My Skycaddie was invaluable!

Two top-notch golf courses, both with some ocean holes. Great views throughout the course. Every time I've played, the rounds are speedy, well under four hours, courses have never been what I consider crowded.I don't know if it is the time of year or the type of grass on the greens, but the greens are slower than expected and spotty in places. Grain really influences putts on both courses. Multiple tee blocks presents appropriate levels of challenge for all levels of players. I consider the greens fee expensive at $169 per round, but if playing with a home owner about $75.

Enjoyable resort golf with great weather and courteous service. Definitely not a challenge for a skilled player.
