On Dec 23 we took a private tours 2 persons. he bring a guy with us to give a training that day (a training come on). we expect more information about the area, he only speak of new companies that are trying to get into the business of adventure. We only went to one area, because he said we did not have the shoes needed to complete the tour, a detail that was not mentioned in the 2 previous calls (we have a not normal hiking shoes, but they are hiking shoes). we choose a 4-5 hours tour, we arrive before 9 am as we were told, we reached the place around 10 am to begin the adventure, we walked for about 20-30 minutes and reached the suspension bridge were he told us that we will take the east route to start the tour but instead we crossed the suspension bridge and walked to the exit of the cave, where we began to row against the stream, making this adventure not a very pleasant experience, because when you are going against the stream you can not admire the scenery. to my understanding we would float with the stream to make this adventure a unique experience but it was not. with much effort we reached the top of the cave or tunnel as he used to describe, to our surprise we just looked around and went back on the floats and go back down where we had already passed. we crossed the tunnel again, got off the floats and walked 20-30 minutes back where we started the tour. He drove us to the Indian Ceremonial Park and walked about 20 minutes in the park as he continued recording some personal videos, we come to his home around 12:30 PM we get lunch and that was the end of the tour. so we have a 2 hours and 30 minutes approximately tours for a price of a 4 to 5 hours tours. i'm not happy at all, i'm totally disappointed.

An amazing adventure in the mountains near Utuado. We walked down to the river and tubed through a 1000 foot cave. We then hiked the river and other caves. Beautiful sights and a great workout climbing back up the mountain. Fernando and crew couldn't have been nicer and helpful. We also had a tasty lunch. The tubing was fun and easy but you do need to be in decent shape to do the hiking.

Seriously the best experience of my life! We were so lucky to come upon these guys. The cave tubing hiking and rock repelling was of course amazing and beautiful in itself, however I don't think that the experience would of been half as wonderful if we did this tour with a different companyThere are a bunch of companies that offer these tours but trust me, you want these guys. We passed some of the other companies on tours and all of them had 20/30 people per tour guide! We on the contrary had 2 incredible tour guides for 9 people, making it so much more intimate and special. They would stop and point out uniques plants and took us to a fresh water stream for drinking and even showed us a type of mud used for mud masks! They were such genuinely kind hearted people and most of the funds are donated to the little community around the area to ensure that it continues to thrive! At the end of the tour the owner'a wife had a home cooked lunch laid out on the table...such sweet and genuinely kind hearted people! A family business that you will feel great about contributing business towards. If you choose to have this amazing experience please choose this one!!!

This was exactly what me and my wife wanted to do! It was a great hike through the rain forest, we got some awesome pics! Tubing through the cave was a great experience, even the truck ride to the hiking location was cool.. the whole trip isn't for everyone, but for anyone who is in decent health and shape can do it (the guide is 61 years old)

My husband and I had a great time on this trip with Roberto. We began our 8 day Puerto Rican vacation with this day trip. It was a beautiful day and a lovely tour. We tremendously enjoyed everything. Roberto took us to the Indian Ceremonial Grounds prior to our Tanama River cave tubing excursion. I loved the fact that I guess we were the only group reserved for that time because we had Roberto all to ourselves. Roberto was very knowledgeable of the various flora in the forest area and showed us many different trees and plants found along our journey. The cave tubing was AMAZING!! And the website is no lie... the hike to and from the river is no joke!! Be prepared to trek through the forest and along the mountain sides. The icing on the cake after our amazing journey was the lunch!!! We went back to the base (Roberto's house) where a delicious authentic home made Puerto Rican lunch was waiting for us!! It was by far the best meal we had during our stay in Puerto Rico. Roberto and staff were very hospitable and I would totally recommend this tour... it is an absolute must do!!!

My friend and I are visiting Puerto Rico from Alabama for 18 days and have been around the island snorkeling, hiking, and exploring, and Tanama Cave Tours was by far the best experience we've had yet. The tour was fantastic! We trekked across the rainforest and mountains and saw some of the best views I've seen in my entire life (this including the Grand Canyon, Zion, and many other spectacular places). On top of that, we saw numerous Taino Indian petroglyphs from over two thousand years ago! The guides were very accommodating, letting us pick our own time that fit with our schedule. They also cooked both breakfast and lunch for us in traditional Puerto Rican style. This tour was incredible. All of the above being said, it is definitely not for those who are not in good physical condition. This is an adventure tour, not a walk in the park.

On the 10th of June a group of students and teachers went to take the Tanamá Tour. The first thing we noticed was the disorganization of the administration. Mr. Figueroa, the tour guy, is a very rude person. The Tanamá tour its just him. Don't expect him to help you with anything. For the contrary he put people to work: "Hey, kid, help with something here" "Move that" "If you don't help you don't get the tour" We as educator expected some history information of the river and the area, but he only talked about the environment. We had a couple of students that are overweight and because of he didn't let them enjoy the experience.

It was a beautiful tour encompassing Indian petroglyphs, scenic views of the forest, a suspension bridge and, of course, cave tubing! We really enjoyed ourselves and the combo-tour was fantastico - gracias Roberto y Tanama Tours!!! ~ Cabrita XO

My family of 3 wanted to explore caves of Puerto Rico on our last day on vacation. We contacted Tanama Cave Tubing Day Tours and they were very accommodating to make our tour possible. Our tour leader was very knowledgable about Puerto Rico's natural environment, and payed particular attention to safety. It was very adventurous, tubing through the caves and exploring the rivers, we were also never in danger of any injury.

Our group of 5 decided on this tour since we had 1 pregnant woman with us and we wanted to include her on our adventure! The guides were helpful on every little thing (getting us to the location, taking a pace comfortable with everyone, even food recommendations for our way home!)Very friendly, very professional & they obviously love what they do! Hector & Derek were great- Thank you!!!

Being a local from PR I can say that this was a one of a kind experience. It had a little bit of everything from local nature Information, beautiful sights to great company and food. Our tour guide Fernando gave us a unique experience to every member, which makes it more personal and you don't feel left behind like in big groups. All the staff was excellent and the food was cooked to perfection adding a special touch being all organic and home cooked. I recommend this tour for all of those who wish a simple perfect experience.

It was a bit frustrating at first trying to get in touch with the tour groups in the area and all voice recordings were in spanish, but I left messages in english anyway and received quick responses back from english speaking guides at the end of the day. So do not let this discourage you from going on the tour. This is basically a shake hands type business. Tell them what day you are going to be there and how many in your party and its done. The drive is amazing and allow yourself a little extra time. We had a party of six ranging from 49 to 16. We did not get to cave tube because the water was low but we went through it on foot and floated. We hiked, we body rafted, we swam, we jumped from rocks, we visited caves. It is a bit strenuous when you get to the five hour mark, but an amazingly beautiful area. Take a small water proof backpack. Do not take anything that can't get wet unless it is sealed in plastic bags. There is no where to put it and you spend half the time in the water. Definitely take bottled water and a small snack like an energy bar and bug spray. They take plenty of pictures and post them immediately on their website for you to download free of charge. We used the tour group aventureopr.com and they did a very good job.

This place was phenomenal. Our group of 5 did a little bit of everything. We hiked, ran, swam, rafted thru rapids,. Tons of things to see: caves galore!, a suspended bridge, mountains submerged in clouds, humongous rocks, bamboo trees, birds. The hospitality at Mr. Bonilla's home was unmatched. He included lunch and 1 night at his place with his price. He also has a pond with little fishes that eat dead skin, pets, hamacs... wow it was just non-stop...

An unforgettable experience, unique and spectacular! The river tour Tanamá is beautiful. To the people who love having direct contact with nature, this is the best place you could go to visit and enjoy. It is beautiful and the hospitality is A +. The director Bonilla always kept communication to guide us to the place. Enjoy a spectacular day with nature, walk by huge bamboo forests, trees, land, river and the best part is stoping by a cave under the river in tubes (or floating), and go go with the current, that part is very relaxing. Cave Tubing Tanamá the best tour we've done in my beautiful Puerto Rico! I encourage you to discover how beautiful Puerto Rico is!Reservations are required, do not pay in advance, paid on the spot to Tanamá Cave tubing. Only cash accepted, no vouchers or credit cards. The phone call is 787-452-8538, Mr. Bonilla's very cordially attend!

Our day started at 5:30 am with a wake up call by our resident rooster. Our tour guides were Flama (flame) and Prisma ( prism), two local, nature loving girls, with their Taino, native given names. We got in the back of a pick up truck and drove to the staring point. Our trek took us well into the forest, up and down the trail, on our way to the mouth of the cave. We crossed the river through a passage under the rock using truck inner tubes as flotation device. The passage under the rock was very peaceful, connecting with nature. One of the girls played a flute with Taino melodies. The whole experience was unique. We crossed the tunnel to an open space and took a break. You can jump from a higher rock to the water if you dare. Then we crossed the elevated bridge and hiked a long trek back. We got shuttle back to the camp site and had a delicious lunch which was included. Make sure you ask for all the details. Mr. Bonilla and the tour guide girls are very flexible and will answer all questions you have. They accept cash only. The accommodations are simple, not luxurious. Great to connect with nature.
