Was recommended to us by a friend. Hubby and I had Mocha drink and that was excellent. I had Mofongitos with chocolate and bacon on it. I loved it. Nice atmosphere. Good service.

The concept is OK but the food is not that exceptional. The service is average but the place is too small.

I am a chocoholic and my family just loves Casa Cortés Chocobar. We have only been there for breakfast and/or brunch. I am in love with their pastries, the croissant with hazelnut chocolate filling is to die for. I also love their chocolate "quesito" and churros. My only complaint is their lack of space and tables to accomodate all guests- waiting times are unreal so you should get there early (around 9am) if you plan to have breakfast withput having to wait an hour or more.

the chocolate drinks and chocolate products are Puerto Rico's finest. Be sure to take some home, especially the milk chocolate bars to make hot chocolate. While you are there, be sure to go up stairs to view a fine collection of Caribbean art.

This place has a great menu and an interesting way of making the most out of chocolate. It is very clean, has a good atmosphere and the service was very good.

After reading the other reviews I just had to try the grilled cheese and chocolate sandwich......it is gorgeous! I will now not have grilled cheese any other way! The owner/ manager was a lovely friendly lady who explained to us the traditions of the chocolate and cheese combo and gave us some gorgeous extra chocolates. If you want a lovely rich hot chocolate go for the extra 72% cocoa blend one.....it's like drinking a chocolate bar! It was busy when we went so we had to wait for a table but it was worth it. We would have lived to have taken some chocolate away with us but it was so hot it would have melted in seconds, but never mind, it's a good excuse to visit again.

This place was amazing - everything has chocolate in it some way and I never thought it could be done this well. Best spinach salad of my life here - we probably ordered too much food because it looked so good but we still ate it all and it was so delicious. Definitely worth a visit - call ahead if you want to visit the gallery, though. We went based on their website hours, but the gallery still wasn't open. Would walk across the city to eat or drink here again.

its not a girardelly place, its not a haggen daz , its not a lyndl place its not even a nestle place or m & m but yes is the superman of the breakfast places all based in yes you guess ; chocolate. the Cortez family started making chocolate in bars about 100 years ago they are the pioners of this industry in Puerto Rico and now they are starting to exploit the bruncholet idea

Chocolate lovers beware... you might never want to walk out... Casa Cortés is Best breakfast and lunch spot in the old city. Try the hot chocolate with a ham and cheese mallorca... you will love me for it.... Visit the art gallery upstairs.. and buy several cases of Forteza for your friends... the best chocolate in the Caribean... and probably in the world....

Excellent Brunch but sometimes slow service due to the big crowd. Best hot chocolate. Good family place and also good for other than Brunch. Come early on Sundays.

We stopped for lunch at Casa Cortes and were so glad we did. Must haves: the Hearty Cocoa (made without milk) and the Grilled Cheese and Chocolate sandwich. But frankly we loved everything we ordered. We also purchased some chocolate to take with us.

A quick stop into Casa Cortes yielded me the best frozen hot chocolate I've ever had! Just a quick stop for a drink but I'd love to try more of their food in the future!

The chocolate is superb and so is the rest of he food. It was delightful to read about the story of Chocolate Cortes and how so many people in he island learned to read with the small books that came with the chocolate!

The place was very good. I tried the chocolate martini and the chocolate shake. I loved it so I am definitely going back for more and this time food too (with chocolate!). The only problem is the service.. It was packed and the old woman in the front was a bit stressed out. As a retail associate and former waitress, she needs to be able to handle stress without letting her customers now. Also, the staff in the bar were a bit rude. Drinks saved the experience though.
