We stopped in for an early afternoon drink - loved the décor and chatting with the owner and bartender. Not sure I'd want to go back at night as it's in a pretty rough area. We were approached by someone as we went to our car. Someone with "Security" on his shirt attempted to intervene, but as he started to wipe off our windshield I gave him a couple of bucks and he left. I wouldn't be comfortable there at night, but we're glad we made the stop just to see what it was all about.

Good prices and service on the main drag of San Nicholas, it is a very popular tourist stop. Good luck getting seats during a festival. The drinks are generous and my friend loves the rum special. Crazy décor, you will not run out of things to look at!

It's in the less touristy area of Aruba and some may say to avoid, but we went here during a Carribean festival. The place has so much stuff in it to keep you busy! So much stuff hanging around, pictures and statements! Staff are great as are the food and drinks. There was a reggae band playing outside when we were there which was amazing! Bus stop just down the road.

Heard about this place so we had to try it. A few people ordered the steak sandwich but they were all filled with huge chunks of fat! Two people ordered marinated shrimp which tasted too soggy like they were soaking in the marinade all day. Beer was ice cold and bread basket was tasty otherwise we will not return to this place on future visits. The place is filled with all kinds of items/collectibles/junk which made it somewhat interesting to look at. I'm sure there is alot of dust in the place! Bathroons are very tiny.

Not really sure what to say on this place. It's a quirky little bar in San Nicolas with lots of items, license plates, etc. hanging in/from the ceiling. The food is very expensive and so are the beers. Not that the food is bad, but $28.00 for a bowl of some type of seafood chowder ????? Also had the shrimp scampi and found the shrimp to be what I would call over done. Some others in our group had the peel and eat shrimp and they seemed to enjoy it and the shrimp looked pretty big with the head still on them, but I just think way to expensive.

My wife and I went by ourselves to this institution in San Nicholas. For those who have had trouble finding it, if you take the bus to SN, it drops you off right in front of the bar. We went during the day, went inside and ordered some Polar beer and some of their shrimp scampi which was delicious. Possibly the largest shrimp I have ever seen... the size of a small banana. It was a weekday and the place was almost empty. We drank our beer, had our lunch, looked at the cool decorations, etc. and thought it was very fun. We have been to Aruba many, many times but this was our first time to San Nicholas. The rest of the town was a little "iffy"... we walked around a bit and determined there wasn't much else to see so we jumped back on the next bus and headed back to O'stad. A fun time and we're glad we're able to say we have been there. Cheers to Charlie's Bar.

Charlie's is truly an experience and their "honeymoon sauce" is wonderful. They do not have a large menu, but they do have a lot of personality!

Great local spot to visit. Friendly people, excellent food and service. Honeymoon sauce was excellent. You must seek it out if you are in Aruba. Took us a bit to find it but well worth it.

Great place with excellent service far away from crowded hotels shores... In the town of San Nicholas, real Carribean...

if you spend the day at baby´s beach you must stop for a beer in this bar.The atmosphere and service is excellent, is one of the oldest bar´s in the island.the location is not the best but that´s part of the history of the place.definitely a place to stop by.

Great place to have a beer or other beverage. If you are visiting Baby Beach, you need to stop by here on the way back. It's a tourist trap for sure, but in a good way.

We - 2 adults with two kids (9 and 7 y) - have visited the place during the weekly local festival in the mainstreet of san nicolas. The area was save due to the presence of the local Police and the local traders. The bar is as described before a good place to drink a beer and a soft Drink for the kids looking around all the funny things from all over the world. The prices for food are to high better try the multiple things on the local festival. If you want to visit a cool bar instead of visiting american style restaurants in aruba go to Charlies bar.....

Bar has been around for quite a while. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable about the history of the island due to its three generations of ownership. Make sure to bring something to add to their collection of knick nacks: people have old college ID's memorabilia from their town etc.

We visited the bar as a recommendation. The food was very good and the drinks were cold. The atmosphere was also great, although the food was pricey. But it seemed like every place was pricey in Aruba compared to the other ABC Islands. There is plenty of street parking but prepare to pay someone that watched your car with a window wash. I have experienced this in many other countries as well. They have a little gift shop next door to buy some of their products.
