This Court House was built in 1842. Attached to it is the oldest jail in Ontario if not in Canada still in use. Go to the administration office and ask if you can get a little tour. The staff is very friendly and they could probably help and get a lawyer to volunteer to take you around. It is a beautiful historic building well worth checking out.

I guess how one rates the Brockville Court House depends on the reason that they are visiting this buidling... lol... If you are there because of a crime / divorce / small claims court - then you would probably not view this building in a positive manner. On the other hand, if you are a tourist visiting the city or a Brockvillian walking by, you would probably appreciate the building's structure. It overlooks the city on top of a hill and is surrounded by three churches (peviously 4 but one burned down). I enjoy walking around the building and relaxing on the green space in front of the building.

Beautiful spot overlooking the St. Lawrence River. Great architecture.

We just saw the Court House from outside. It is a grand old classical building with a wonderfully eccentric statue of Justice on the top (a reproduction of the original). We heard there is a jail round the back, in the same building but without a connecting door, so that prisoners have to be brought round to the front in a van.
