My son and I spent a couple of hours watching Fang and his pack of wolves being wolves. Then we experienced a chance to pet Hershey the 700lb moose.

We are a couple with two girls (13 and 11) and we would totally recommend this place for dog sledding. We booked the half day (20 km) trek and it was a great experience for all of us. I had a sled with one daughter and five dogs and my spouse had another sled with the younger child and six dogs. The nature is absolutely beautiful - we went through evergreen forests and across frozen lakes. They have a total of 137 dogs who look healthy and are eager to run. It was interesting to see how focused the dogs are while on the trails (they didn't like to stop at all) but then we got to interact with them back in their "shelter" where they were sweet doggies, just wanting pats and praise! Do be aware that you do get a bit of a work out. (I could feel some muscles were a little sore the next day.) So if you have any physical issues or concerns, I would talk to someone at the reserve before booking. As a big bonus (I love to cook!) the restaurant (which is quite decent btw) and the store sell shitake mushroom bolts/logs that allow you to grow your own mushrooms at home. I can't wait for my first harvest : )

We were fortunate to see the wolves out shortly after their feed time. Very interesting! The museum though small is quite informative. Would recommend this, it is worth the drive from sir sam's inn.

A Winter Forest Paradise, we are a couple in our Mid 50's and we wanted an adventure, we heard about the great Snow Mobiling at Haliburton Forest and we were happy we tried it. We arrived at the Forest at 7:30 am yesterday January 28th, enjoyed a hearty breakfast in The Cookhouse Restaurant , then went over to the office where the wonderful staff took care of us. We were also spending the night. The Snow Mobile was beautiful and very comfortable for 2 people, take time to learn how to drive it and back it up so you have no problem on the trails. The nice wide clean trails were a pleasure to drive as were the Lakes. They have a speed limit of 50 km on the trails and that was fast enough for me, you can go a bit faster on the Lakes. There are accidents that happen due to driver negligence or speeding, so during the week is a much better time to go as it is not very busy. The room had a fireplace and double bed, single bed in another room, small TV with cable, the bed was not very comfortable, and we could hear our neighbours who stayed up late drinking, the shower is not great, but for a cabin style room in the Forest it was o.k. When checking out I expressed our disappointment with our loud neighbours and the fact that the Wolf Centre was closed, and they wanted us to be happy customers leaving, so Juliette took us over for a special private Tour of the Wolf Centre. Wow, we were very excited, and lucky enough to see 4 of the Wolves right up close, and have a quick walk around the place, this made up for the lack of sleep. Juliette was fabulous and extremely knowledgeable, we were very impressed with her love for the wolves and Haliburton Forest, they are very lucky to have such wonderful staff that work there.Thank you everyone for the great adventure!

Well groomed trails and lots to see! Great for groups or single riders. The on site accommodations looked inviting.

Loved the wolves, very educational to walk through the museum to learn about the wolves. Even more educational to see the wolf pack in action and speak to the staff. Hershey the moose and the other animals are also fun to see and say hi to. Will be back to visit again for sure.

Was in town for a conference and had the wonderful opportunity to visit this unique place! Only participated in the Canopy tour and did not stay in their accommodations. I did look around and the rental units look very nice from the outside. I would definitely consider booking a stay and especially in the winter. Our tour guide was excellent; well versed and knowledgeable. The tour is a unique experience and the good thing is that almost anyone can do it! It`s safe and exciting all at the same time. The property is stunning and has a great history. The Wolf centre was a great experience also; a beautiful museum style building and the wolf pack was available to see at feeding time. I would certainly return and bring my husband and or friends and family.Tip: Totally set up for winter activities including dog sledding and hundreds of kilometres of snowmobile trails. I`m pretty sure you can ski or snowshoe the trails also! Would be a great winter getaway!

My husband, my daughter and I rented a cabin. It was perfect. The staff is friendly. The grounds are gorgeous. Calm paradise! The moose was a nice surprise.

we went here in summer of 2014!!! It was a horrible experienced we had... I booked for 6people and 3 bedroom as for other places and hotels considered you have 3 bedrooms you can take up to max of 6 people which this place DONT! And while on the phone with rep, they didnt even explained to me the whole Rules and scenario.I was so embaressed infront of my inlaws when they told me i have to pay extra $400 which i book for 6 people... They basically calculate people plus each nights! I cant cancelled anymore since i cant get anymore refund so we stayed and i paid over $1000... That was just the first issueSecond staff are very rude, i thought all along since its a attraction place they will give more effort to help guest which actually the opposite. And also i ask Peter when i was on the phone with him if my kids can stay and camp outside p he said YES they can and when i got there the staff said " Peter would not allow any camp outside, so literally they were telling me im lying! Very very disappointed.Rooms smell poop, couch is dirty with holes, The stairs at the back is broken which they hve to fix it while we were there... Bad experienced at all. I told Peter the owner he didint even do anything. Basically as a customer youre nothing!

This is a great place to observe wolf pack routine and behaviour, and also a great photo opportunity. There are a lot of good information at the centre, as well as, friendly and knowledgeable staff. It is easy to spend 2 hours there, just watching the wolves. Best to arrive late morning, when they are active, and not ready for their nap. The wildlife reserve also has a resident moose, some beautiful horses, and several pigs at the barn. Overall a wonderful experience. The wolf centre is open only on weekends from thanksgiving to spring.

We spent over 2 hours at this facility but it really didn't seem that long! There is lots to see and read, and of course, waiting for the wolves to appear requires patience! We were lucky enough to see 3 wolves and observe them eating a Thanksgiving Dinner of road kill deer. Both of our kids (14,12) were so intrigued! It's the longest time i've seen them sit in one spot without moving (and hardly breathing, ha ha). Paul's knowledge on pack nature is extensive and it was great having his input in the form of commentary, anecdotes and answers to questions. I was saddened to hear of the intentional sabotage & release of the previous Alpha and other animals - i just cannot comprehend why people in this world feel compelled to destroy the positive work of others!Well worth the effort and entry fee, I highly recommend.

I always thought the Haliburton Forest was just that. Little did I know there is so much to do. We did get to walk one of the trails which was clearly marked and easy to walk with enough of an uphill challenge to get the heart going. The highlight this trip was the Wolf Centre. It is well laid out with an exceptional hostess whose name I did forget. At this visit there were 6 wolves all within easy view. Many times you go to an animal center or zoo and never see the animals. The hostess or guide was so knowledgeable and you could tell she has a passion for the wolves. Well worth the visit. Call before you go and see if you can luck out at feeding time.
