I cannot say enough about how the staff provide excellent teaching, mentoring and care to my children during the many camp days and lessons they have attended for. They make sure each child feels special, yet they also push the children to test their limits and reach their potential. The atmosphere is very laid back and friendly - definitely no intimidation factor like some clubs. Definitely recommend Of Rock and Chalk!

This place is really fun with lots of knowledgeable staff. Lots of different selection of walls to climb. Would recommend for beginners! Also great for kids birthday parties.

Like another reviewer said, the staff are great. Very family oriented with kids/after-school/birthday programs.Lead test was just under $17/person. My friend and I both had a tube device (Reverso) and Gri-Gri, but we were told that if we got tested and did well on the "ATC" we can lead belay with the Gri-Gri without being tested on it.Not sure I want new climbers "learning" how to belay here, as they have Gri-Gri's anchored to the ground, and many develop bad habits of not holding on to the break end while belaying. I say this because I have met several people who have climbed at Rock & Chalk, and tell me they know how to belay, then not even know how to put on the Gri-Gri to their harness.The gym is slightly old (14-17 years?) so most things are aged. Some of the walls will creak while you crank on holds, which can be a bit unnerving when you're lead climbing on their roof section. Most of the draws are sketch looking, and if I had kids, I would not want them top roping on their old ropes, ever.But I really enjoyed their setting, and grades seem very fair. Anchoring after the climb seemed suspect on a few of the climbs, as there wasn't a finish hold/box, or the anchors just didn't exist. Which was weird, b/c I'd say 90% of them climbs had anchors and finish hold/boxes.There is no water fountain, no showers, and the mats/floor looks pretty rank, so do not walk bare feet.

So much fun! It is a fantastic workout and a very family friendly place! The staff are just amazing. They also do birthday party's for kids which are a lot of fun as well! So get on down there and have fun!
