While this is a glimpse of our past it really isn't that long ago that the inhabitants of the Oakville are (and elsewhere in SW Ontario) were living in cabins and farmhouses main from the logs of trees hewed in the immediate area. In our age of 10' ceilings and large rooms and bedrooms for every child it is an interesting contrast to reflect on the age of this who grew up in the Merrick Thomas Farm House - one living room, one room for parents and one room for children. No central heating, no AC, etc. - we are so spoiled compared to our hardy forbearers. A worthy visit especially if one choses to uses it to contemplate on the lives of this who lived just 150 - 200 years ago.
