The instruction from Eddie is excellent - very thorough and professional. The driving range (all mats) is good and pricing is reasonable. Course is in good shape.

If I wasnt disappointed by the extremely droll lads in the proshop, the young lady behind the till who kept walking away from an open cash drawer x 3, as we curiously looked on. Then there was this redheaded lady dusting the front entrance and giving us the once over, with not even a hint of a smile. Could get out of there fast enough.Thank goodness the cheerful started got us pointed in the right direction on a very nice golf course. I would be back if I could avoid the people in the front building. Weird. We had a great round and we may go back.

Good driving range with both putting and chipping practice areas. Pro shop with friendly and helpful staff - golf lessons offered - I will check out the lessons

We always golf here as we can usually get a tee time without much hassle. The staff are friendly and helpful and the course is lovely. Hope it stays around as there is talk a developer is trying to get their hands on it which would be a tragedy. This is a great course right in the middle of Oakville which is convenient and good value.

Most disappointing experience there ever a couple of weeks ago. Arrived at 6pm for a quick 9 holes, they insisted there was no 9 hole rate for golf and charged us full price, but then charged us a 9 hole cart rate, and if that wasn't enough, when we were on our 9th hole, the staff came out to tell us to hurry up so they could close. Much better value at so many other courses in the GTA.

Deerfield GC is in Oakville, and does not approach Glen Abbey in excellence as a golf venue (previously reviewed). Nonetheless, it is more suitable for the average golfer in that it does not punish the weak and can reward the weekend warrior, at much less cost. It is eminently laid out for walking, though those weaker in spirit can take a cart, in that it is flat and fairly wide open. There are several pretty holes - 2, 9 and 18 are such - that almost relieve you of your mistakes. The major concern is the closeness of the fairways, making errant drives a bit of a danger (always yell 'Fore!). A very good track for the money, either a twosome or a foursome can easily get in a round of satisfying golf in under 4.5 hours (so take advantage of the twilight rate ($52) after 1 pm weekdays), all for a reasonable price among the blue-rinse set. Rivals in the area, for both the money and the challenge, would be Lowville, Hidden Lake, and Royal Trafalgar.
