For a base asset, it has a wealth of information and many priceless artifacts. If you are ever in Petawawa, you have to visit.

For an old soldier I must admit that I could almost feel that I stepped back into time. What it did tell me was that the Canadian Armed Forces has surely improved significantly since the 1950 & 1960. It is hard to believe that we thought we were top of the hill when it came to fire power and technology. What a chuckle..... Anyway if you are in the area...take the time to visit the Military Museum you will not be disappointed.

Interesting to look at vehicles from the past. they are not in the best shape, but this is understandable as they are outside. The museum exhibits inside are interesting especially seeing all the equipment used today put in a historical context.

I you like army stuff this museum has it! The front yard is full of vehicles and tanks from WW2 on and it even has a rocket launcher. The museum’s collection contains Canadian Army artifacts from the Boer War to NATO. The displays include weapons, uniforms, medals- including 3 Victoria Crosses- and a fully loaded parachute jeep. If you liked the movie The Devil’s Brigade starring William Holden and want to know the true story, then you will be fascinated by the display about the First Special Service Force. If you liked the TV show Band of Brothers episode 5 in which the British paratroopers were rescued, then you will like the display about the 23rd Field Company Royal Canadian Engineers who were the soldiers who drove the boats across the River Rhine to make the rescue. This museum has all kinds of photos including some rare pictures of the Yukon Field Force. Admission is by donation and it took me a quick hour to briefly see everything. If I had more time I could have made it an afternoon’s outing. The Museum is located on the army base and is easy to find.
