Dalewood Conservation Area is located just minutes outside the small City of St. Thomas. The campgrounds offers 200 serviced and unserviced sites including the possibility of 45 amp service on pull through sites. When we were visiting this place on Canada Long weekend, we were the onl people with tents! The rest people were with RV. Please note when you decide to go camping here- you need RV!The place is way overcrowded! And no place to swim!!!!There is an adult swimming pool (very small), and it is almost always closed because there is no safeguard! The kid’s pool is a bit larger than normal bath and it operates only between hours 1 pm -4 pm (when the sun is in zenith and kids can easily get the sunstroke). When we were camping this pool was closed (reason-no safeguard)There are showers, which are in very poor conditions and you need to pay for such service $0.50 (only $0.25 coins are accepted)!!! It was catastrophic for us as we did not have quarters and we were walking from site to site and begging people to exchange money!A 12 kilometer looped hiking trail circles the Dalewood Reservoir but the trail is not very convenient for walking as you see only huge bushes not even lake! I was expecting to see variety of birds as I was traveling there to do pictures. But I did not see anything there! Our camp site was in the wood, so it was nice! (at least something good). The other thing I want to mention that there were no a lot of mosquitoes! That was really great! But there were lots of raccoons! And there were walking all night around our campground! They were coming close to our table when we eating! That is why someone had to sleep in hammock to take care of our camping ground! If you will ask if I want to go there one more time!My answer- No!
