My husband and I both found items of interest in the self tour we did. The time period was well represented

I grew up exploring my back yard and I am still able to find fun and interesting things to do such as the Heritage House Museum in Smith Falls. I brought my parents for this little excursion in honour of my dad's birthday and a great time was had by all. After our visit we went to "My Place Restaurant" which I would also recommend to anyone that wants to enjoy home cooking by an owner that really loves his job.

While attending a converntion thei past weekend in Smiths Falls we were treated to a tour of this gorgeous house that was built around 1862. There are 8 furnished rooms depicting the era and the lifestyle that was enjoyed by wealthier families at that time. One interesting item that was built onto thie house was a "two story privy, or outhouse" as they were referred to by that genereation. The house is in excellent condition and the grounds which abut the historic Rideau Canal are beautifully lanscaped and manicured. During our visit they were baking small biscuts in a wood fired oven and they supplied homemade jam to tempt your taste buds. I have driven by this site on numerous occasions and never realized what it was. Now I know and will return with my wife. Apparently it is available for special events such as meetings and weddings.
