Stopped by while the owner wa away so the technician in the Replicar shop gave us a tour of their shop while waiting for the owner. Amazing vehicles and excellent workmanship. After waiting a while, he showed up. It was worth the wait. So much to see inside and the story of the Avro Arrow movie was especially interesting. Thank you for saving all of this for us to see. After perviously living in Campbellford and travelled from Halifax NS to visit friends, we decided to take a look.Dan and Sam Sinnot and our friend Glen Patfield

I stumbled online onto the late Harold Carlaw's personal museum, known as the Memorial Military Museum located at 226 Albert Street, in Campbellford, Ontario. I was in the area in a few months and contacted the museum for a visit. The hours are 10 am - 5 pm, Monday to Saturday, so I wanted to time my visit to coordinate with the hours of operation. There are a few aircraft on display outside the museum but most of the interesting items are inside a busy (sort of cluttered) set of buildings. Items on display include a 60% scale model of the CF-105 Avro Arrow once used in a stage play about the Avro Arrow and a CF-100 Mk II. There are also a number of other interesting items in the collection including uniforms, weapons and ground transport.

The museum's collection of a/c are privately owmned. All are outside and are non-flyable. A/c are from the 50's into the 70's. Most are in fairly good condition. The a/c list includes: 50's Canadian Silver Star WW 11 Trainer 60's CF-100 Canuck Beechcraft Expedittor Floatplane (fuselage only). 70's CF Feedom Fighter 60 % scale CF-105 Avor Arrow Sno Bird TutorThe museum part is one half shed and one half walk throughn building. The second half contains uniforms, medals dating back to the 1880's, warbooks, manuals, rifles, swords, basyonets and a large number of model airplanes.A complete tour of a/c and museum takes about 45 minutes. Outside is a Korean era Jeep and a 1942 Indian scout motorcycle, used in parades. Also a small number of a/c engines.Hours are Saturday 10:00-4:00.. Tours are also by appointment . No admission, however donations are appreciated.Locating the museum on Albert Street off Grand Road/Highway 30 can be a problem, as there is no big museum sign on Grand Road. Albert Street is one block south of a Tim Hortons. GPS is probably the best way of locating the museum.Although the museum is small, a history of aviation waits for a visitor. I would recommend a visit.Jack L., Syracuse, New York.
