Watching boats going through the locks is pretty amazing! Well worth the visit! Located in a picturesque part of the city with lots of green space and scenery.

Very fascinating to observe how it works. Amazing detail put into the design to make it work effectively to pass boats through smoothly. Well worth a tour and can get exercise at the same time going from top to bottom.

A very pleasant park setting with picnic tables with views of the boat coming through the locks. Good parking available.

You can picnic on the banks and watch boats come and go as they use the lift lock to navigate the canal and overcome the height difference. Good history told in the "centre", as well as being close to the Peterborough Museum.Great skating place in the winter.

It was very surprising how much more information and beauty there was then we realized. We were new to the area ourselves so when our granddaughter came to visit we all did the tour of the canal. the highlight was the lift lock and hearing the history.

It was very cold but we still enjoyed it. Unfortunately due to the time of year there were no boats.

The Peterborough Lift Lock is a beautiful site with a fascinating history. Even if you are not passing through in a boat, you can take pictures or go to the Visitor's Centre (if it is open). If you climb to the top of the Lift Lock, you will get a great view of the surrounding area. I have visited in every season and the views from either side of the lock do not disappoint.

Took the trip up over the locks and was amazed at the ingenuity of its construction. While I did not take the private cruise with supper it was a worthwhile and interesting visit

Welcome to the largest lift lock in the world! Boaters on the Trent Canal system enjoy this lock. There is a museum beside it and several boat cruises which include ascending the lift lock. Peterborough is a great city with lots of eateries!

The lift lock cruise was part of our outing for my husbands 50th. What an amazing time. We actually rented one of the cruise boats for this private function. The package I chose also included food. The meal was from local Greek restaurant as there was plenty of it! No scrimping !The day was beautiful and the staff and captain amazing. The narrative supplied by the captain was both informing and enlightening. The hydraulic lift-lock portion had us all in awe.If you are looking for something unusual for your next occassion, I HIGHLY recommend this.

The highlight of the tour was the hydraulic lift-lock which is a must see/experience. The whole experience was interesting, if a little slow, but the captain's narration kept the group entertained with relevant stories of Peterborough's and the lift-lock's history.

This would not be a liftlock you would want to use if you are afraid of heights. It is definitely cool to watch the process and the amount of water that flows through the system. Hopefully my next visit will be on a boat passing through instead of just watching from the shore.

The Peterborough Lift Lock Boat cruise was very informative on both the history of the lift locks as well as the lock system in Peterborough. Toured around Little Lake and in and out of the lock system. The narrator gave historic points about the locks, Little Lake and Peterborogh itself.Nice as a family trip on a summers day.

This is a great place to see. The view is beautiful and the history to explore in the visitor's center is fabulous!
