This is a beautiful house with a rich history. The guide was very informative and I loved that most of the artifacts are original to the family. Worth the visit!!

If you have read Mazo de la Roche or watched the Whiteoaks of Jalna series a visit to Benares House is mandatory.I drove by it for years without going in. Finally stopped in about ten years ago and have taken visitors to Mississauga there several times since. We have also attended a couple of very nice receptions there.I was surprised to find out that de la Roche actually lived on the estate but that makes sense given her feel for the place. My next visit will be next month when I show visitors from Alberta around Mississauga and for brunch in Port Credit.

If you love PBS period dramas (Downton Abbey) or shows like Murdoch Mysteries, you'll love exploring this Museum in the former village of Clarkson. You really get a sense of how people lived during the period of time it was occupied by the Harris family. Tours happen on Wednesdays and Sundays and many of the guides are from the local area.

We had a nice visit to the Benares Museum while on our last day in Canada. the tour guide just happened to be from the States (Philly) but it did not hamper his ability to give a good tour and it was clear that he was very much into his job and does it very well. He has a good sense of humor and relates very well to his audience. As for the museum itself, it has some very interesting artifacts and stories to go with them. the tour doesn't last too long, but it was well worth the amount of admission. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

Ci siamo arrivati consultando la guida di Mississauga che indica tre posti di attrazione strorica: nei limiti della loro storia. Un bellissimo parco antistante e poi questa realtà ottocentesca che si può visitare anche all'interno ma solo nei week end.
