Take the North road, continue through the village, turn left on Barrett road, follow the signs and it ends at the parking lot. The walk to the access stairs is approximately 300 meters. Walk down the stairs, hop over some logs on the beach and there you are. Pick a spot for your family, enjoy the view across Lock Bay and the lighthouse, the water, the sandstones cut by the waves, etc. The water was a little cold but we went swimming and enjoyed it a lot anyway. We stayed over an hour. We will come back, will pack a snack and and will spend the day next time.If Gabriola Sands Provincial Park is too busy, this is a great alternative.

It's about a 10 minute hike through old growth forrest by a high bluff, but then a huge expanse of sand and rock beach opens up. We rarely see anyone else. There's a gorgeous view of the lighthouse on Entrance Island and the snow-capped mountains of the mainland beyond. Water is pretty cool year round though.

Lots of parking, follow the signs to get there. Hidden from most tourists, this beach is a stunning place to be. Not busy, lovely sand, warm water for great swimming, peaceful. Walk down a large hill to get there and bring some food and water and stay all day! Nobody bothers anyone there. There are tables if you wish to eat sitting off the sand. I would say this is a must see, however, not wheelchair accessable. Enjoy your full day here!
