Enjoyed the beautiful flowers and pleasant breeze. There was a huge Japanese Bell, it was fun ringing it!!

It is small but meaningful - I appreciated learning about the Japanese influence of this island and what they had to go through

Each season brings another aspect of the beauty and serenity of the wondrous Japanese Gardens. The Japanese Gardens are maturing wonderfully.

An impressive garden, built in part by the community of Mayne Island, and certainly a great place to wander and meditate. A visual treat at every corner.

Chanced upon this unique garden which is beautifully maintained and well work the stop. A short drive from the ferry and definitely worth exploring.

It was built honour the long-time Japanese residents on the island that were interred during the war.

This was our second visit to the garden, and we were lucky enough to be there at a time when everything was in full bloom. You can clearly see the work and love that's been put into creating and maintaining this place. A nice place to wander and reflect.

We didn't have high expectations for this garden - it's a garden, right? Even when we initially walked in the gate, it wasn't immediately impressive. However as we got closer to the pond we realized that it was incredibly well done and very beautiful. A lot of effort has gone into making this a very serene, exquisite place to sit for a while and enjoy.

A lozvely quiet garden, full of atmosphere and a beautiful memorial to the Japanese of Mayne Island displaced by the CAnadian government at the start of the second World War.

This garden was created and is maintained by community volunteers. Beautifully kept and free to enter and enjoy at any time of day. Very peaceful.

This is a testament to the Japanese families who were some of the early settlers of the island. Many of these were torn from their homes during the Second World War and never returned. These gardens were, and are, a gift given with reverence. Work is done by community volunteers. The atmosphere is quiet and contemplative. These are not the largest or most beautiful Japanese gardens I have ever seen, but are perhaps the most intimate. Well worth a visit.

Have been here a few times as it's nice to come at different times of the year. Lovingly taken care of, asking only for what you feel you would like to leave in the donation box. Very peaceful setting and often you have the place to yourself. Lots of interesting varieties, a lily pond, not too large to walk around. Very nice and I think worth the time.

Loved the quiet and peacefulness of the gardens. Places to sit and listen to the birds and little streams.

Whilst rounding up an island-hopping cycle trip and being too early for the ferry, we asked the super-helpful BC Ferries girl whether the downhill to the Japanese Gardens (and therefore the uphill return slog) were worth doing in a 1 hour time window in the drizzle. She should probably work for the Tourist Board as she upsold theGardens in some style. She was not wrong...even on a wet May Sunday morning, this sizeable garden hidden in the forest is just stunning...the little plaques outlining the history, the obvious love and attention that go into maintaining the garden, and the very real feeling of peace and tranquility they inspire make them well worth finding. There have even been weddings there and I am not surprised. For families there is a small play area adjacent with a zip line et al, which means a family morning/afternoon out with a picnic etc with small kids would be really good. The gardens however, are a testament to the vision and attentiveness of those who planned and maintained them. Visit, donate and reflect. You will not be disappointed
