Technically I'm more of a beer snob than a spirits snob but I've had my fair share of gin, whiskey and vodka. You won't be disappointed in visiting the Pemberton Distillery if you're looking for a unique tasting experience. The crafters here appear to strive to make unusual combinations of flavors using a wide variety of ingredients that almost exclusively will leave you thinking "wow, I've never had anything like that before" and in a GOOD way, mind you! Most of their spirits are distilled from potatoes, a fact you'll note strongly in the brandy and vodka. I highly recommend the German Shnapps (I'm not even going to try to spell their name for it correctly) and their Gin. On the shelf behind their tasting counter, they have a display of all the ingredients used to flavor the gin. They certainly took a gamble in using some of the spices and I, for one, think it paid off

A trip to the Pemberton Distillery is a perfect compliment to a trip to Whistler. About a 35-minute drive from the Village, the journey to the distillery is one with some of the most stunning vistas in B.C. Shramm's Vodka, named after the Shramm family who own the distillery, is made from local, organic potatoes. In fact, all their liquors, which include gin and scotch, as well as their flavourings are organic in origin. Tasty, tasty, tasty....

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the tour. Our $5 tour is meant to give our guests an overview of how our distillery works and includes a full tasting of our spirits. Tours are led by family members who have been involved in the business since we began over 5 years ago and are well versed in our production process. For your husband’s questions specific to his hobby distilling we were pleased to bring in our Master Distiller, who studied an MSc in Brewing & Distilling and holds a Diploma from the Institute of Brewing & Distilling, especially for him. We agree it is a good idea to attend the tour sober as we do provide several tasting samples and give every guest the opportunity to learn about and try our products before purchasing. Our organic potato vodka is a sipping style vodka and intended for enjoying neat or on the rocks. It does mix into cocktails however and we would have been happy to provide you with cocktail recipe ideas.

Tyler, one of the owners, spent time in Scotland working at a scotch distillery and now has come back to B.C. to start his own Pemberton Potato vodka distillery. The pretty, windy road to the distillery, takes approximate 35 minutes from Whistler Village. We thoroughly enjoyed Tyler's tour of his distillery. He is very personable and we just enjoyed learning the process of how they make their vodka and gin. The tasting was a good too. We tasted 4 different spirits: the potato vodka; Absinthe, Gin and Organic Costa Rican Vanilla Vodka, (this was my favourite) - all made here. We purchased the vanilla vodka and the Cherry & Vanilla cocktail mix. I would definitely recommend this mini excursion to Pemberton, very worthwhile tour!!

Their Potato Vodak is amazing. Made out of our famous Pemberton Valleys Organic Potatos. Mycelia disolve all the cell membranes & convert the potato's starch to fuctose, leaving the faintest subtle fruit bouquet that lingers even through distilation. Admire the Vodka's legs, then try it chilled & neat over ice. Next ry it with unsweetened blueberry juice- really brings out the fruitiness. They recently started making a gin.when I attend this Years Cornicopia in Whistler it was a big success with the crowd & myself. After outdoor sports the Distillery's Tour is the 1st thing I suggest & a very big hit with every Hotel guest thats taken the Tour. Check out the VIctorian Copper Steam Punk Kettles, Vats & Stills.

We frequently drive the scenic Duffy Lake highway between Sun Peaks and Whistler and on a recent trip discovered the new Pemberton Distillery. Located just north of Pemberton in the industrial park, the immediate surroundings are modest while located in one of the most beautiful valley's I know. We met the owner Tyler that was preparing for the huge Whistler Cornucopia. The fact he was working with the Fairmont and a Sunshine Coast caviare producer endorsed its credibility. The fact the distillery was 9 months away from releasing its first whisky excited me further. And the reason for stopping in the first place - vodka and gin was wonderful. The distillery is open Thurs - Saturday through the winter and offers tastings and tours. The grounds are modest, but the high rating is due to the personality of the owner, the initiative and vision of the owner to place a distillery in this spectacular valley, and the beauty of the bicycle ride between the distillery and the potato farm. I would suggest riding from the farm to the distillery, rather than visa versa for obvious reasons.

We just spent a week in Whistler, BC and the concierge suggested the distillery as "something to do that's a little bit different". The distillery is a little bit north of Pemberton itself, but is pretty easy to find (look for the sign that says Distillery) and go to the end of the road. We tasted their vodka, gin and several liqueurs. I, personally, preferred the vodka as I am not much of a gin person, but the liqueurs were very nice too. The flavor of the vodka is subtle but distinctive (I really liked it!) while the flavors of the liqueurs are robust. The distillery has just started making single malt scotch whiskey, but we weren't able to do a tasting as it was only about 5 months old. They've done such a nice job with the rest of their liquors, that I'm going to make sure I return in a few years so I can sample their single malt! The owners are very pleasant, patient and welcoming and make you feel like answering your questions are their only focus in life. Go here, it is really a nice experience!

31 Aug 2012The tasting room is small but welcoming. One of the owners was there to provide the tastes and answer all of our questions. She was very patient with us. This was an extremely enjoyable experience and a definite change from the hub-bub of Whistler. Oh, and the products are OUTSTANDING. I especially liked the Gin but could easily sip the Vodka as well.
