A very good escape from city. Easy to access and short driving from metro Vancouver. With peaceful inlet river & lake, large marsh, wildlife and nice mountain view. Good paddle and hike places. You can spend a whole day there with your Kayak, hiking boots and picnic basket. Definitely recommend no matter you are the residents in nearby cities or a traveler to great Vancouver. We did 6 km easy hikes around Marsh weeks ago and it took us less than 2 hours. Very enjoyable experience. I specially like the very peaceful feeling while walking and watching the mountains sounding us. I had spotted several young duck families who were wondering around us that day. Google Rannie Road in Pitt Meadow, BC, you will find Grant Narrows at the end of Rannie Road, where it is the start point for both paddle and Hiking.

Entering the Fraser Valley east of Vancouver and along the north bank of the Fraser River, this agricultural city is made up of farms and ranches and "meadows", lakes, rivers and several golfcourses. Over 85 percent of Pitt Meadows land mass is situated within the agricultural land reserve. There are many blueberry farms and cranberry farms. Pitt Meadows (100 year anniversary this year) celebrates Pitt Meadows Day on the 1st Sat. in June every year, the Airshow and the Bees & Blueberries Festival In July. Many of the Pitt Meadows agricultural attractions are open throughout the year. There is an amazing 7,000 sq. ft. additive-free meat shop, a 17 acre corn maze, an interactive honey farm and a fruit winery. Pitt Lake, the largest tidal fresh water lake in North America, attracts many boaters and birders. There are also many riverside dykes that offer hiking and biking routes that are easy for the whole family. Pitt Meadows also has an historical Museum that is in a quaint heritage house, the museum's artifacts and photos (some are from my family) tell the story of the district's aboriginal and pioneer history. Also on the main street (Harris Road) there are two more heritage buildings, the blacksmiths shop called Hoffman's and the little white church.
