A little of everything here. Well worth the trip. Try to arrive early to poke around then spend the rest of the day just driving around the island. It's beautiful!

The Salt Spring Farmers Market is so much more than the name. Artisans, bakers, creams and all of divine quality!! Goat cheeses that were so fresh you'd think the goat was behind the counter, fruits and veggies so flavorful that the must have been picked hours before. I was there early as the market was opening and saw the abundant stalls with colors, perfect lighting and welcoming owners. The artsy items were as interesting as the food. Vases made of stone and crystal, paintings, hats of yarn and alpaca, flowing clothes of all colors. It was certainly one of the most lovely markets I've seen. I wish I had this at home!!

We had an amazing time at the Saturday Market in Ganges - our only complaint was that it was so hot in the July sun that we couldn't stay out there all day! We purchased some amazing art, and delicious food that we turned into a late afternoon snack back our bed and breakfast. I wish we could go every weekend. The colourful and delicious looking produce alone would bring me back.

We found the market to be just right as far as crowds go for a long weekend. The selection of handcrafted items was the best I've seen and as a result I purchased many items from a variety of vendors. This is one of my favourite markets on the west coast. I was especially impressed with the fiber fushion scarves by Laurie Steffler.

Taste the most amazing goat cheeses, the juiciest, sweetest strawberries and savour some great poutine! There is lots of fresh organic produce to choose from, it will be tough to only buy a few things! Bought a hand made rose bead necklace and bracelet... so cute! Listened to some funny buskers. It was busy when we were there the long weekend, but that just added to the adventure of it all. If you're on Salt Spring on a Saturday... this is a MUST DO! PS. Although most of the vendors have bags, you should bring your own if you've got them.

Saturday market is the best we have ever found. Have never seen such choice fruits and vegetables. The peppers looked as though somebody had spent all night polishing each one! There were many different artists offering fabulous crafts. Truly a visit to remember. Spent the afternoon touring the island.Would be great if there were more than two bathrooms for the ladies!

The Saturday market was filled with incredible organic farm fruits and vegetables, kids setting up their own stand selling kindling and hand made crafts, fabulous artisans selling beautiful jewelry and the smells of fresh bread filled the air....

If you are going to Salt Spring as a tourist then Saturday is the day to go. Other than the local market, there isn't much to do. You either need to reserve the ferry leaving from Victoria, or wait an additional 2 hours to get on as there are hoards of people going to the island on Saturdays. Coming back you cannot reserve and it was easy to get on, provided you arrived at the dock an hour earlier than the leave time. There are some market stalls and shops at either wharf to help pass the wait time for the ferry, but they are not very exciting. We spent most of the day in line ups, waiting for ferries, food, to pay for shopping and such. We did the entire market in about an hour and didn't find anything that even remotely enticed us to part with the exorbitant sums they wanted for their goods.

No summer trip to Saltspring Island which includes a Saturday is complete without a few hours at the famous Saturday Market.Ganges ' main street is arrayed with covered stalls with vendors selling tempting, fresh fruit, vegetables, baked, raw, gluten free wares. Artisans, craftspeople, entertainers, refreshments abound in this beautiful seaside park space where you can shop, stroll or sit on the grass. There is literally something for everybody and the variety and quality of the offerings is impressive.

Just returned from being on the Island for several days and one of the highlights was the Saturday market. Produce, art, crafts, music. It seemed that the whole island was out for the day. Also went to to the Cheese Factory and toured their building. Great cheese!

Everything at the Saturday market is made by local artisans. There is everything from soap to pottery, food and jewellery. Lots of entertainment and tastes to delight as well. It is a must if you go to Salt Spring Island.

The Saturday market may be my favourite thing about Salt Spring Island. This unique market is full of treasures handmade from the locals, you will not see anything like it. Saturday is also the day when many of the local islanders come out and spend the morning or afternoon meeting with friends... Making an excellent opportunity to meet the people who call Salt Spring Island home.

Many street markets are full of so much junk. The SSI Saturday Market is different. Everything is made, grown or processed on the island, and vendors treasure the privilege of being there. The organic produce, baked goods, fresh pasta, etc. are fabulous, and blended in with fine craft work and fun and funky knick-knacks. The street performers are also often really good, especially the adorable tiny children who often stand among the crowds singing, fiddling or dancing. We live on the island, and never tire of it, coming again and again with visiting friends, or just to shop for ourselves.

It is well worth it to visit the saturday market. The trip with the ferry from Vancouver island is 30 minutes and breathtakingly beautiful.Driving through the island to the market is beautiful with plenty of hidden gems for photographs! The market is busy and parking can be a problem but if you are willing to walk a little then you should find a parking space. The vegetables are really fresh and the Salt spring cheese is delicious. There is a large variety of cheeses on offer and all can be tasted. The handmade soap is gorgeous and well worth buying as they smell wonderful. There is a large selection of different jewelry articles on sale and it caters for different tastes. All the stall owners are very friendly and love to have a chat ant tell you about the uniqueness of their products.Would love to visit again.

Worth taking a trek through the market on Saturday for the fresh produce alone. Buy some Salt Spring Island cheese as it is way cheaper then buying it at your local Thrifty's. Fantastic fruits and vegetables as well, bring your shopping bag and cash!
