We were fortunate to be the only two on the boat so had our great guide, Ray, all to ourselves. Not only was he very knowledgeable about the area, but he was great fun. Lunch was excellent.by doing the boat trip you get to see parts of the lake that are not visible from the shore.

I think this has the potential to be great but it is overpriced ($55 for 1 hour boat trip per person) .... Can't comment on the views as it rained very heavily from 5 minutes in for the entire trip so all windows were shut and we couldn't see! Ray our guide was great and I'm sure a huge asset to them, but we couldn't help the weather....

We didn't do a lake tour as we missed it but having seen all the amazing scenery we could on the way up to here, we were pleasantly surprised to find a little snackery type cafe here with a gorgeous view! There's a limited selection but it's an amazing selection to chose from, be it soup, a variety snack plate, or dessert and the coffee was very european....loved it!Yes, you will pay through the nose for the snacking experience but being able to sit outside and enjoy a breath taking view while nibbling on home made goodies is so well worth it! Definitely I'd like to do this again but this time take the tour of the lake as well.

We didn't go on a boat tour, but stopped in the cafe...very friendly and helpful, nice cake and cuppa but very limited choice of food. Maybe it will change higher in the season. Remember - the tiny shop and this cafe are the ONLY places you can buy food between here and Clearwater town 60km away!! Maybe take a picnic - or book by phone!

We took the all day Rainbow Falls tour. There were only eight of us on the boat, making it an intimate group. Ray was our tour guide, and my suggestion is to request him. He is hard working, knowledgable, energetic and just plain fun. The tour leaves the dock at 10:30 and Ray stops along both on Clearwater and Azure lakes to allow for gazing and photos. You return about 5:30, with such lovely memories. In between, ray docks us at this little beach area, and starts leading us on a little hike to Rainbow Falls. There he leaves us and heads back to camp to start the fire for lunch. You stand and take photos of the falls, some brave hikers even walked down toward the falls, and then we meandered back to base camp. Ray had water heating for coffee and tea by then, and the fire was almost ready for our hot dog and s'more feast. Ray had laid out an awesome picnic: BBQ, pulled beef sandwiches, three bean salad, yummy crumb cake, cold cuts for sandwiches , hot dogs and we ended with roasting marshmallows. For s'mores! Then those that wanted, laid down for a nap, others took out a canoe. Their new adventure, for Clearwater Lake Tours, which I would recommend is their overnight camp with three meals included, and the use of the canoes, tents, etc, all for $200 per person; and their guide included; that's is a great deal. The tranquility and solitude offered by these two beautiful lakes are phenomenal. The trip may seem a little pricey, but so well worth it. We would highly recommend Clearwater Lakr Rours for a wonderful day!

Mick the boatman was very pleasant and interesting, but the fulltripto rainbow Falls, only possible in summer, would have been much, much better.

Was able to tour two of the most beautiful lakes in BC, and spend the day in one of the most remote and beautiful areas in Clearwater and azure lakes. Captain Joe and Captain Nick, provided a 52 Km Tour of Clearwater and Azure lakes. A full day tour seeing some of the most spectacular scenery and waterfalls you will find in Wells Gray PP. Day trip lands you at Rainbow falls where you spend 3 or 4 hours, eating a gourmet lunch and having access to hiking trails, canoes, and beautiful sand beach. Few visitors if any because there is no road access to either lake. Wonderful time, great food, great service, great people, and spectacular scenery. What more can you ask for. Thanks Ray, Joe and the Crew at Clearwater Lake Tours.

Our boat tour left at 10:30 am and there were 11 people total onboard. My husband and I were the only real "locals", meaning everyone else came from different countries; the UK, China and Switzerland. That didn't make it less exciting for us though. The boat was large and comfortable with a cover over most of it so the hot sun wouldn't get too overbearing. We toodled up Clearwater Lake which was very high with lots of debris, due to the rainy spring. The guide was very knowledgeable, giving us lots of info about the local geography, history and wildlife. We slowed down in a few places to take pictures of bald eagles on the shore. After about 1/2 hour or so, we made our way up the river that connects the Clearwater and Azure Lakes. We soon came out into an even more beautiful vista, that is Azure Lake. The towering peaks and glacial blue water made for an unforgettable photo op. The guide then took us to the head of Azure, to Rainbow Falls, where the tour company has a small picnic sight with outdoor toilets and even some canoes available for use by their guests. We all hiked up to the falls and then enjoyed a delicious lunch of sandwiches, salads, hot dogs and smores! Lots of french press coffee and hot chocolate too! We still had time to paddle around for a while in their canoes and some of us even dared a dip in the lake, brrrr! Finally, the guide packed everything up and we headed back down the lakes. The sun was shining brightly, our tummies were full and it was easy to doze off a bit to the drone of the engine. We returned to the base of Clearwater Lake at 5:30 pm, wow what a day! Well worth the cost to enjoy a gorgeous provincial park that most people don't even know about. We will be reecommending this day trip to everyone we know!

This trip in an electric boat (quiet), on Clearwater Lake was very enjoyable. Great views, no noise or pollution from the boat, and Dillon , your Pilot and Guide is a mind of interesting information. Drinks and snacks on board too!

This review is referred to August 2011. My friend and I spent one day and a half in Clearwater. We were on the way to Vancouver from the Rockies and decided to stop there and visit Wells Gray Park. And the experience was amazing. We didn’t have a previous feedback, but we decided to book in advance a day-trip with Clearwater Lake Tours to visit the most important attractions in the park. When we met the day agreed, our guide suggested us to join the boat tour though Clearwater and Azure Lakes and we didn’t regret at all. We took the boat at Clearwater Lake joining a group of 8 and our guide Dylan. Everything was planned to spend a complete day including lunch. After more or less 1 ½ hour on the boat, travelling though Clearwater and Azure Lake and seeing spectacular falls, we reach paradise. It was a small beach in the middle of nowhere, near Rainbow Falls. We enjoyed nature, calm, wild and amazing views of the lake and mountains. Also, we had the opportunity of canoeing (our first time) without any risk. But that unforgettable day would not have been possible without the best team. Our guide Dylan and all the team worked to make us feel relaxed and very comfortable. Their knowledge of the environment and their love of nature made us enjoying the trip. From the moment the picked us up at the Inn, the experience was amazing. They showed us the most spectacular sights and scenes, both on the boat tour and also on the drive from and to the Inn. The tour included also a picnic (sandwiches, sausages, coffee, tea, water,….). Dylan was always willing to explain us any question. In our way back, we were lucky to see wild life (black bear) from the boat. Without any doubt, it was an unforgettable day and if we had the opportunity to return to Canada, for sure we will repeat the experience with Clearwater Lake Tours. Ana & Nacho

After spending 3-4 days on the (spectacular) Icefield Parkway, we decided to pull out from the touristic hustle and bustle and spent a few days in wells gray park. Getting into the more remote (and more beautiful) areas of the park normally requires long hours of canoeing or hiking, so we highly welcomed CLTs daytrip offer (the long trip including Clearwater Lake AND Azure Lake). The trip started with a 1.5 hours boat trip on Clearwater and Azure Lake. Wildlife viewing is possible. (We saw a bald eagle and a number of ospreys) The company has a picknick area near the rainbow falls, where lunch and beverages (+ terrific smors - a marshmallow dessert) are provided. Mike (our tour guide) guided us on a commented short walk (15-20 min) trough the forrest and explained flora and fauna of the area. Later we had time to explore the area and paddle the lake in provided canoes. Pros and Cons:+ Mike is an excellent tour guide (communicative, enterntaining, informative)+ Azure lake is beautiful and (at least at the time we were there) quiet (if the waterfall could be turned off, you could hear a bird sneezing from a 5 km distance) - excellent place for spending a day off+ Opportunities for canoeing provided+ Wildlife viewing (Birds)+ small groups (no mass tourism, personal athmosphere)- Getting there requires 70 km drive from clearwater - including 30min+ trip on gravel road (may be an issue for sensitive cars and drivers) - scenic, however: no match for areas like Banff, Jasper, Yoho, etc. NPs- small groups (you have to get along with them for 7-8 hours...) Tip: Check with visitor information in Clearwater for tours.

The luxuary Duffy boat was comfortable and the cold salmon lunch was appreciated. Tour guide Mike did his best to make an uninteresting trip interesting. These was not much to see but inexperienced kayakers a few mountains and trees - no wildlife or birds on our viist.. A boring trip!!! The access road to the Duffy's landing is awful and getting to the actual dock is dangerous due to all the pebbles and steep bank. Better organisation of getting people to the boat is needed. Until the company organises their access to the trip differently think hard before using them!!!

Wanting a break from hiking, we decided to book a boat tour of the Azure Lake and Rainbow Falls and we were glad we did. We started out the tour at 10:30 in the morning with Mike our Captain and a guide named Lucette. The 1 ½ hour cruise across Clearwater Lake and Azure Lake brought us up close with some spectacular natural sights such as bald eagles, osprey, looney birds and spectacular waterfalls. Both the captain and Lucette were very knowledgeable of the flora and fauna of the area and we made periodic stops for picture opportunities and information on what we were seeing.Upon reaching our destination (the Rainbow Falls), we docked and unfortunately the clouds opened and it began to storm. Fortunately the tour operator has thought of everything and there was an awning to cover the picnic tables where a picnic lunch was provided (choices of sandwich fixings, condiments, homemade trail mix, fruit, hot coffee, hot or iced teach, hot chocolate and water. Later we all made roasted marshmallows and made smores by the campfire.Once the weather let up, we took a very informative nature walk over to the falls and learned about various plants and birds in the area. We were then treated to a close up view of the falls and then back to area where the boat was docked. Everyone was offered the chance to canoe on the lake or just simply enjoy the view before our trip back at arrival back at the docks about 6 pm.We were delighted with our choice of tour and the chance to see such spectacular sights up close. The knowledge of both Captain Mike and Lucette on the tour made it all the more enjoyable. The tour company has seemed to have thought of everything to make their customers feel comfortable with the beach area set up and as we discovered on the way back when we needed it with the return of the rain, a covered cabin that was heated. Since this is a tour out into the wild, you could repeat the tour various times and see completely different sights depending on the time of the year and conditions. We were told that for next year, they are setting up overnight camping tours to the area.
