Steveston is a small village in the heart of the city - but you don't feel like you're in the city when you're in Steveston. It's a great spot for a relaxing walk, a coffee or to grab a bite to eat. There are lots of great restaurant options. In the summer or on holidays, it can be tough to park if you're driving and you might have to park a bit off-site and walk in to the village. The boardwalk is a great spot to walk, sit and watch the boats go by ( look for the eagle's nest) or to do some people watching. A very nice community, very safe and pleasant.

This was one of the highlights of my visit to B.C. It was a complete surprise. You can get here by public transportation -- just like almost everywhere in the Vancouver area. There is much to see here. I spent the entire day and could have stayed several days. It is right on the Fraser River and you can eat freshly caught seafood at riverside eateries -- some quite elegant. The fishermen bring their catch right up the sidewalk directly to the restaurants. There are also many historical buildings (small houses) you can visit (no charge/donation only) and lots of interesting shops.

We come here regularly for walks along the pier, historical area, and park. The fish and chips are great and the scenery (at least on a clear day) is stunning. It is among the best places to visit in the greater Vancouver area.

This little village is a must see! The locals were out fishing at 8am along the river. Apparently, there is a lot of filming that goes on here also.

I love Steveston and the beautiful river views. There is a terrific trail system in the area where you can stroll the water front and work up an appetite. The restaurants ( many with outdoor seating) are great and offer a wide selection of items including many fish and seafood entrees. There is a local farmer's market on alternating weekends and lots of gift shops with unique items. You can even take whale watching excursions from the dock or buy fish fresh off the boat from the fishermen.

Got off the 402 bus and walked two blocks to Steveston Landing. It was a sunny Saturday and lots of fishing boats docked to sell their catch: frozen tuna, sockeye, catfish, rock cod, halibut and fresh shrimps, live sole. We bought 5 live sole for ten bucks. The village is dotted with restaurants (Dave's fish and chips) and coffee shops (Waves, Blenz, Starbucks) and some small local coffee shops. Moncton Road is dotted with small quaint shops. If this is not relaxing take a stroll in Gary Point Park. There is a walking trail going all the way to the airport. Love this relaxing place. At the Landing, we saw a hungry sea lion and tons of seagulls

Steveston must be visited while in YVR. It is a great place where you can feel an amazing atmosphere. You can just get some drink and appreciate the view and/or have a fish and chips.

I love walking in Steveston! You can say hello to absolutely everyone you see and most of the time get a smile and hello back. My favourite places are the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, Britannia Shipyards, and Garry Point. There are so many restaurants you could dine at a different one every night and not be disappointed.

It is a small fishing village in Richmond. If you walk along its streets, you feel like you have gone back in time for about 30 years. It has lots of little shops, quite a variety of restaurants, mainly seafood restaurants. On the weekends and holidays, you can buy fish and seafood right off the fishing boats. There is a salmon festival there each year and it is very crowded. It is very difficult to get a parking on the weekends and during events.

Very quaint and friendly. Many Eclectic shops, loved the ambience. The bakery was amaziing and when asked to sample - do - the baker is offended if you don't. Great walkability

Wonderful area to visit...Japanese village to cannery to wharves to restaurants. All but the cannery is free. Lots of walking areas overlooking River.

I live right on the Richmond Seawalk. Unfortunately one has to endure driving through Richmond proper to get there. Richmond is a very boring modern wannabe Hong Kong with ugly glass and steel skyscrapers going up EVERYWHERE and paralyzed by more and more traffic everyday as immigrants who don't know how to drive (beware!) smash up their Mercede's, BMW's and Maserati's right off the car lot. These new condos are bought and built exclusively by mainland Chinese to give them an escape box in case they need to get out of China. 45% of these brand new condos are not occupied except when the owners need to fly to Canada medical care and use our resources. Once you get to Steveston it is a far different atmosphere although parking is at a premium as this area is a favorite place to buy fish off the boats, coffee in the overabundance of coffee shops and for dog walking, ruff ruff. The Cannery, a national park made from a large fish packers is very worth visiting as is, to a lesser extent, the old Brittania Shipyards. It's a 10 minute walk to the east along the seawalk. The Brittania Shipyards is quite interesting but is managed by the anal Richmond Parks Dept. and could be SOOO much more but the Dept. is stuck without ideas. One store in particular is a must see. It is called Storybrooke Country Bread, yes the store seen in the movie Once Upon a Time. Yes, once upon a time there is a real gypsy from Romania who has fabricated a brick oven inside a store he decorated with wood everywhere, a hammer, saw, nails and psychopassion and therein he sells large loaves of fresh baked "country wheat bread" and ...hmmmm nothing else....oh for 10.00 per loaf justifying this by comparing his bread to some hundred dollar a loaf bread from a famous bakery in Paris, no doubt now owned by ISIS. One good thing about being ripped off for 10.00 for a loaf is that once you walk out the door he gives another loaf away free to charity cases in the neighborhood along with pieces thrown to the resident Blackbird so this good hearted man is essentially forcing you to donate to the needy. So visitors please go in a buy a loaf, pretend you are on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco (where real sourdough costs half that price) and feed our needy folks, the ones who have been pushed out of Canadian society by the ones mentioned above. This store attracts every Eastern European and Russian in the area and the owner loves to yell and scream his political opinions and whoever will listen so all you wives out there, leave your husbands there while you go shopping as he's a great 'babysitter'. If the New World Order is to fail, let it fail at this bakery first as he has worked very hard to see that it does. Enjoy Steveston, Best Place on Earth (sorry Vancouver)

Steveston at one time was a township and had it's own Mayor and Counselors. Then became part of Richmond. A fishing village for many years, with BC Packers as it main source of employment. The area now is a mixture of Old and New. A lot of Filming of TV and Movies are shot up in that area, so you may run into some Actor or Actress. Lot's of Coffee places and some eateries in the area. Garry Park is a ice area to walk around, up there. The museum is interesting to go to. There is a small charge, but worth the knowledge inside about the area.
