Centre Archeo Topo is a museum located in Les Bergeronnes, Quebec. We happened upon it by accident in our quest to see whales. The museum houses artifacts that were found in the North Coast area of Quebec. Anyone interested in the history of the area or archeological finds, will be fascinated. The Centre houses a permanent exhibition of artifacts and provides an indepth tour of the Centre. The tour guide was extremely informed and very animated. We spent at least 2 hours with the guide as he recounted the history of Quebec and provided detailed description of the artifacts and where they were found. A short film preceded the tour. To our surprise there was also an exhibit of animals from that region that were on display. The display was created by the renowned taxidermist Denis D’Amour. I am not a fan of taxidermy but this exhibit was art, pure and simple. The taxidermist is a true artist. I have never seen such talent. You actually felt that the animals were alive. This was an exceptional exhibit and one I will not forget. In the Centre you will also find a restaurant and a gift shop and bookstore. The gift shop sells items that were created by the locals in the area. Some lovely artwork and handmade sweaters can be purchased there. In addition, there are hiking trails nearby. It is well worth the stop.

) manger durant quelques semaines par an.
