The place to take your visitors, so pleasant and interesting. Keep the afternoon free so you can sit back in the sun and enjoy your visit

after being most underwhelmed by Wellington city, Scorching bay is just what the Dr ordered. Quaint, beautiful views, lovely beachfront and topped off by Scorcherama cafe with great service and food. I'd recommend it for any type of traveller.

On a beautiful day this is a quiet place to enjoy the view. The water is lovely and clear and there is a couple of fabulous cafes nearby.

Many like to strip and pose on this beach which is ok but not so good for children Many gays seem to get here so if you are that way inclined probably the perfect spot for you Nothing else particularly special about this beach ..... apart from the constantly changing views of boats and ferries going past

Beautiful gentle beach suitable for kids. Wonderful for picnics on the grass. Toilet and changing facilities and shady spots.

Lovely little bay with great swimming, sandy beach and fab cafe. Feels like you're a million miles from a major city.

Unless it is raining there is something to 'do' at this beach. If it is sunny and not too windy it is a packed with family and friend groups on the grass and the sandy beach, with hardy souls and children swimming in the water. Wellingtonians are use to a slightly bracing sea temperature. If it is windy and overcast, just sit in the car and enjoy the solitude! There are short walks along the coast to other bays and hidden beaches. The Scorch o Rama cafe provides great food and coffees; and ice creams. The latter is sold at separate counter, so don't make the mistake of joining the wrong queue. The cafe has outdoor and indoor seating areas.

You must drive around the tourist route from Wellington to Scorching bay. You pass through some lovely places and scenery, it will take you about 30 minutes but it's worth the drive. There is parking along the back of the beach and a lovely cafe called Scorcho rama. The bay is white sand and beautiful blue sea, it's very safe for children with rocks to climb on either end of the beach.

A little gem in Miramar - nice beach, cafe and you get a view of the Interislander coming in and out! Great place to hang out with family and friends

Beautiful beach.... a definite place to go.. it was windy the day we went so sand was flying everywhere, so we didn't stay long... but otherwise, a most amazing place to be!

This bay as very nice beaches, good café, but is always busy, busy. I won't be going again in the busy season, only when holidays finish.

Scorching Bay is great place on a warm day, especially if there is a northerly wind. We enjoyed a swim in brilliant sunny conditions (although our wetsuits made it easier to stay in the water for a while without getting chilled). We got there early, while there were few others about, and it was peaceful and calm. It is renowned for getting really busy during the day when the weather is fine. The views across the harbour in the early morning were excellent, and after a (cold but refreshing ) shower in front of the changing rooms, we enjoyed a coffee and some café food at Scorch O Rama.
