Despite having lived in Napier my whole life, I have never actually visited this place before so decided to take the time to visit today. I was pleasantly surprised about this place.Greeted by friendly volunteers and was treated to music from a vintage German machine. The volunteers are obviously very enthusiastic and friendly, very passionate about this place. They happily gave demonstrations of things and spoke more about the exhibits. It was especially a treat seeing the small Tesla Coil running. Very few static displays and there are lots of things where you can make them work or move them. Although there was plenty of information provided, I did feel that a few things needed a little better signage more a bit more information about them. But this is a fantastic place to visit, well worth taking the time to visit. There were only a couple of other people inside while I was here as well when I visited on a Friday morning. If you are in Napier and have a little time to spare, it is well worth stopping in to have a look. The entry price of $9 for an adult I felt was quite a good price as well, worth every dollar.

Went to the Faraday Center and spent a couple of hours there. The volunteers just ooze enthusiasm and passion about this place and it is easy to see why. There are very few static displays. Most things are moving or involve you making them work. Exceptional.

This looked like a great place to spend a few hours with kids - we were all geared up to come with my 11 and 13 year old but sadly had not noticed that they closed at 11am on a Saturday. It is run by volunteers so fair enough. Wish we could have got in.

Fantastic little "museum" that is so interactive that it keeps the little visitors totally engaged and interested. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and always willing to chat and pass on information.

The centre is very hands on, so that children and aldults can get to experience how things worked a century ago. For the older person it is a trip to the bygone era. I loved the phone where you put a penny in thew slot.. The Faraday Centre has lots of volunteers about to explain things if you want to know more. I don't know of any other place like it in NZ.

This hands-on technology centre is dedicated to helping school kids understand science and technology. Brilliant resources to experience power, electricity and more and all done by an amazing band of volunteers

The team of volunteers at the Faraday Centre are a fantastic group of enthusiasts who maintain and demonstrate a wonderful collection of working exhibits which delight and enthrall everyone. Enjoy some reminiscing, there is something here for young and old.

Such an awesome place to visit for small and big kids alike! Loads of hands on things to get involved with and the Tesla Coil has to be seen to be believed!A couple of hours just disappeared through consumed investigations!A must do.

The museum had much on display. Some displays didn't offer all of the information that I was hoping for and I felt that the items were not always presented with a context, felt a little like someone found lots of old things and just put them together so for the very young this meant that displays didn't always make sense. Having said this we (family of adults and children) did enjoy the experience very much and would definitely recommend it to all, young and old.

Totally loved this place. It's taken me almost 4 years to go there after moving to Napier; now I'm wondering why, as its packed with fascinating items. The gentleman volunteers who operate the place are wonderful. They may be advanced in years, but it's fantastic to see the genuine enthusiasm and excitement in their eyes as they tell you all about the exhibits.A brilliant place for little boys (and girls) of all ages.

This was an amazing experience. The help from the volunteers was just enough without being over the top. The exhibits were in good condition. Would recommend to people of all ages.

Really well laid out museum - on the ground floor working engines and wonderful scientific experiments which you can interact with - kids and blokes would love it. Upstairs history of various occupations - butcher, telephonist, hairdresser etc.

Hands on museum staffed by the enthusiasts who keep everything working. Something of interest to appeal to all ages.

This fascinating technology museum is one we never get tired and always take our visitors to see. Very reasonably priced and the volunteer staff are friendly and helpful. The Tessler coil is the piece de resistance but there are many, many more fascinating items, many of them are hands on. There is always some little item to discover that I have missed on a previous visit. Very good value at $9 each.

We visited this little technology museum with two boys aged 10 and 12. Pretty much everything was hands on, from the telephone exchange to the typewriter, the doppler effect machine to the pianola. Kids had a very happy hour investigating everything and learning a good bit of history at the same time.
