But satisfying to accomplish and great views along the way and from the top. Some narrow paths and steep drop offs. Take water, a hat, and walking sticks help....or just drive to the lookout!

This place is well worth the drive up the narrow road. The views are amazing, over the bay, river, hills and valleys. There's hiking trails and mountain bike tracks for those who are a bit more adventurous.

The narrow access road is slightly hair raising if you are inclined to vertigo, but the view once you reach the top carpark is breath taking. On a clear day you can see forever

Must do visit. A great place to get outdoors, For walks, hiking, mountain bikes and fantastic views from the restaraunt/tea room. Can drive to the top of the peaks if preferred.

Wow what a view. Don't miss this one. Keep driving/walking till the road runs out though as there are a few "false tops" with car parks as you climb up. It does get a bit narrow towards the top but it's well worth it.

Even though I'm scared of heights it was worth the trip up to the top! You feel like you are in top of the world

This is a must-do while in Hawke's Bay. It is quite a winding road by car to the top, but the road is sealed and well maintained. The view from the top is simply stunning in all directions

Loved the view from here, a bit of a drive up but it is so worth it, you can look down over craggy range winery and the surrounding valley. You have to go here!

Too hot a day to walk far but we enjoyed the view from the top - don't get distracted by "the View parking" that's for the restaurant and so you're not at the peak yet, keep going to the top where there is a lot more parking. Next time looking forward to some walking.

Beautiful landscape and definitely worth the drive if you're near Napier. Very windy and cold at the top so make sure to bring a jacket! Worth every minute of the drive!

Te Mata Peak is one of those must-see places when visiting Hawke's Bay. The second-highest peak in the region boasts glorious views of rolling lush hills, meandering rivers that sparkle in the distance and incredible 360º views of surrounding farmland, ocean and towns. The road going up is narrow and winding, so a confident, slow drive is a must - but well worth it! People sky dive of the summit, so if you are lucky you may see someone preparing to take the plunge - it is an awe-inspiring sight. Probably give it a miss if the weather is raining and windy - as your photographs won't do it justice.
