The winery was quiet on the day of our visit so we were able to have a quick wander upstairs for views over the vineyards and a peak at the wine-making equipment. The staff here are friendly and knowledgeable; we were pleasantly surprised to be able to taste a selection of six wines free-of-charge (unlike our local wineries in California) although we didn't need much persuasion to purchase some bottles to take home. Sileni also has a nice gift shop with lots of ideas for New Zealand souvenirs. This is an excellent Hawke's Bay winery thanks to the products and the people who work here - make sure you pay a visit!

Awesome Cellar Door, Awesome Staff with The Best Wines we found in the Bay. What a genuine find in the Hawkes Bay. This Cellar Door is simply the best we have visited. The staff were such fun, even though they were extremely busy, they made an effort to include all their visitors and made our visit an amazing experience. We highly recommend a visit, you will not be disappointed, the Vinyard, Staff and Wines are exceptional. Well done, you deserve a 100 percent score.

We went to the winery with a local friend on the day of Wine Festival. Different from the experience we had from the other winery, this one has a stylish shop selling own brand wines and food with peaceful and quiet atmosphere. We were very lucky to meet the manager Anne who has been so hospitable and invited us to taste their award-winning wines. To our surprise, once she got to know we will be traveling around south island, she took a hand drawn map made on her own to introduce us where to go and what to do! If you go there, make sure to find her, she may give you special discount on their rich tastes wines and other stuff ;)

I am just writing to give my sincerest apology. I have just got back after being on the road and seen your review and very sorry that you had a bad experience. I talked to our Cellar Door team and they said it was likely that one of their morning meetings had run over time and hence why they had not opened the door yet and the staff member you saw was most likely one of our office staff or from the catering company that operates on our premises rather than from the Cellar Door and assumed you were just waiting for the doors to open...regardless they should have checked you were ok and let the ladies know that someone was waiting. Our Cellar Door team prides themselves on their service. I do hope that if you are in the neighborhood again that you do pop in and hopefully we can show you the friendliness and service we are renowned for.Again my deepest apologiesKind RegardsCairn CoghillSENIOR WINEMAKERSILENI ESTATES LTD2016 Maraekakaho Road, RD1, Hastings 4171,Hawke’s Bay, New ZealandP + 64 6 879 4832 M + 64 27 688 4423cairn@sileni.co.nz www.sileni.co.nz

When going to New Zealand, leave a couple of days unbooked. After picking up Anne's tailored South Island map, you can start playing New Zealand. Anne is the manager of Sileni Estates and can give you plenty of useful advices on her country. All this, while you sip delicious wine. Do not miss the rosé made of 100% Cabernet Franc. Enjoy!

The lady who served us was so helpful! Beautiful wine, you can purchase items in the little shop and make up your own cheese platter. We had a very pleasant afternoon in this place. I would definitively recommend!

We called ahead and booked a tour of Sileni. Since it was the off season we were the only ones on the tour. It is not a large place and they were pressing olives for oil at time. We tasted the oil as it was squeezed. They have a great cheese and wine shop. We fell in love with their Cabernet Franc and wish we could get it in the U.S. We bought 2 bottles and took one to friends we visited on the South Island. They enjoyed it as much as we did. We brought one home and can not wait to share it with friends. Some of their wines are available in the U.S. under different bottle names. We located their Zeal Sauvignon Blanc and their reserve Sauvignon Blanc 4 days after we returned and bought a case of each. Fun to drink the wine and have a memory of Sileni. Enjoy your visit.

We enjoyed this winery - it has a beautiful cellar with great people working. Gorgeous grounds. And a big gift shop, for a NZ winery. Great tastings!

We had a tour with Anne the retail manager who was such a delight! Very interesting winery with an olive press attached to boot. The cellar door was great and the tour was informative too. We visited Mission Estate and Elephant Hill the same day. Sileni was definitely the best wine we had!
