You'll enjoy the boat trip and then a great suburb but don't look too closely at the property shops. if you like it it'll cost you a lot to move there.

Such a lovely area, so clean and cheerful, a lovely walk along the shore and enjoyed browsing the many quirky shops, loved this place.

This is a cool little town across from the main city of Auckland. It is a bit of a drive from downtown Auckland, which is what we did. We were already kind of out that way via a disappointing trip to the Ponsonby area. You can take the ferry from downtown, and if in that area again, I would take the ferry and walk the little town. Traffic was thick. We enjoyed the side trip, but not necessarily a must do.

A real contrast to Auckland, a lovely town with some nice small shops. Lovely walk by the water, great place to spend a day chilling out. Very relaxing place

Took the ferry from Auckland for Devonport - as much to see Auckland from the sea. Devonport was a real treat - a quiet little seaside location, ideal for a walk on the seafront and a cup of tea alfresco. Lots of lovely independent shops and cafes and well worth a visit.

Heaps of history and plenty to see. You can drive there or get the ferry from Auckland harbour. Shops a plenty but I thought it was a wee bit touristy and prices were a bit high. Worth a visit though for shopping and just chill out.

Only a short ferry trip from Auckland : a quaint , neat , tidy and clean waterside village with amazing views of the local waterways. We walked to the old fortress above the maritime museum and the views across to Auckland and the bays in the other direction are mesmerising .There are several hotels and cafés with outside tables for drinks and snacks.A total contrast from the energy and atmosphere of Auckland.

Devonport is a step back in time. Catch the ferry from Auckland City only $11.50 return. Walk the main strip of Devonport and notice the architecture of the buildings. These old buildings are full of character. The many homes along the foreshore are also built to a wonderfully old standard of character charm. If your up to it, walk to the top of Mount Victoria. The views of Auckland and the surrounding gulf is incredible and its free. I suggest you take a bottle of water with you for the journey, its a steep climb. If you have a passion for whats old, go to Devonport and spend the day walking the streets and taking in the buildings of yesteryear. I did and didn't want to leave.

Take a very quick 10 minute trip from Viaduct harbor at Aucklands waterfont and dock at the base of Victoria street. Eateries await, an exceptional local moviehouse on upper Victoria ( 1 block plus ), a wonderful waterfront library and walking, scooter, and Segway alternatives to explore Devonport.I walked past the yacht club and around to Cheltenham Beach where homes sit at the beach facing Rangitoto Island a short distance across the bay. Mount Victoria and North Head are short steep walks should you choose with panoramic views in every direction and a comfortable cooling breeze that offsets the summer temps of 25C or 77 degrees F. Spend a half day here or more if able and you certainly want to return again. Large trees provide shade and many benches allow for a takeaway picnic at waters edge !

Davenport is a short ferry ride from Auckland and a well worth a visit. Many lovely homes and gardens, and plenty of walks around the area with great views of Auckland and the harbour. Great places to eat, and shops to tempt the tourist!

A little town almost lost in time , attractive buildings and surroundings . Great little shops , restaurants and bars . Walk 20 mins from centre to North mount and a gentle stroll up to summit to experience great views looking back at Auckland and surrounding area . Old defensive guns connected by tunnels in their emplacements to protect Auckland from a sea invasion . Stroll down to Cheltenham beach and relax in totally unspoiled surroundings . Well worthy of a visit and it's only 12 mins by ferry from Auckland .
