This is a great spot to visit while in kakadu, heaps of artwork on the rocks and great broad walks getting there. For a group of young people it was a easy climb but do take your time and take the camera along for photos. I'm defiantly going back because I didn't go to the top where the lighting stick is.!! I highly recommend this to all

Most tours & activities were closed during wet season, so our only choice left were Nourlangie, we didn't spend much time there as we were rushing towards Katherine, It was kind of fun climbing the rocks and magnificent views. Just that the weather was too hot for us to stay longer. Practically no tourist at all during this season.

It is amazing to see places that are still so accessible, you can almost 'touch' (not allowed!) it. It seems the art/ paintings are re-touched every now and then, but it is still amazing to see and comprehend that people have created this, that long ago.This place is easily accessible by people that have difficulties with walking. We've visited in march and the heat was bearible, but I can imagine this might become quite an ordeal when one is visiting in december/ january.

I thought it was boring and disappointing, lots of trees & rocks, not good for older people. Cultural Centres are terrible, nothing much there.Katherine Gorge so much nicer

Ubirr was closed (or rather the road to Ubirr was closed) so we went to Nourlangie - it was fantastic. There are several paths so you can walk as much or little as you like - we went around in a circle and some of the path was a little rocky but fine for everyone except the very old or disabled. The art is lovely but the views from the top of the hill were the best part. A wonderful perspective on Kakadu. Being the wet season we had it to ourselves.

A comfortable walk to view traditional Aboriginal rock art. Some of it is wheelchair-accessible. Helpful if you have a guidebook to explain the stories behind each artwork.

This is an amazing detour off the highway with rock art that dates back well over 50,000 years. Truly worth the drive.

One of the top 10 things to do in Darwin Australian Outback Tours . I visited this ancient rock art gallery while staying in Mercure Crocodile hotel and learn about the people who once lived and sheltered there. You can see Aboriginal rock paintings all over at Nourlangie Rock.

Thanks for your review – great tips for this beautiful spot! For people visiting in the future, remember that there are a number of different walks around the Nourlangie area. Some are challenging, as you say the Barrk Sandstone Walk is remote and difficult, and shouldn’t be attempted alone. But there are some short, easy walks that are perfect for families, and Tthe first part of Nourlangie to the Anbangbang gallery is wheel chair accessible – that’s where visitors can see rock art of Namarrgon. Other parts, like the main occupation shelter and the Gunwardehwarde lookout are accessed via steps. We hope you make it back to see us soon! Regards, Tanya

Now there will be flies... in the wet anyway. Still, well worth a visit for the magnificent rock formations and fascinating rock paintings. Look out for the lightening man!

Well worth seeing and 'feeling' gives one a sense of the history of the place. Easy walk with viewing of Aboriginal Rock art in a most impressive Landscape.

Fascinating place. It was explained that the aboriginal owners are asking everyone to call it by its correct name, Burrunggui, instead of "Nourlangie" which was some white guy's misunderstanding.I was glad I had a fly net.
