Nice people, possibilty to taste a lot of wine, excellent regional platter with a lot of food, and great wine. The heaven is maybe into the Mac Laren Vale!! :-D

We had a great lunch platter sourced from local producers and all the wines we tasted were superb. The service was excellent and the staff were very attentive. The facilities were very nice. It was so good to go to a winery with such an emphasis on sustainability. The wines were organic and the coffee is organic fair trade.

We were taken to Gemtree for a tasting in early 2010 while doing a private day tour of McLaren Vale with Adelaide with Barossa Epicurean Tours. We were only there briefly for a tasting and it was our favorite--almost five years later we often mention we wish it were easier to get Gemtree wine here at home. On New Year's Day 2015 we opened a 2008 Luna Roja Tempranillo that we brought back in our luggage, and it was fantastic!

This is a relatively new place with great views over the vineyards and valley. They source and grow everything that is organic. The taste of their wines are refreshing and different to the norm. The staff were very friendly and informative. It is all new and away from most other wineries in the Mclaren Vale.

We went to gemtree winery. We were 5 adults and 3 kids. From the moment we walked in we felt uneasy and it was an unfriendly greeting. The lady didn't seem warm or friendly. It seemed as if we were ruining her day. We decided to order the meat and cheese platter. We ordered 2 at $35 each. Then to my surprise we saw a 10-12 year old boy was preparing our food. When the food came out it was put onto one platter instead of two. I asked if we could have more bread. The boy told us they ran out of bread and ham. We feel we should have been told this before we purchased the platters. Miraculously 10 minutes later the boy came back with more crackers and ham saying the delivery truck had turned up. Then he says that's an extra $5. We said no thank you as it was supposed to come on the platter in the first place. We weren't paying anymore. After that he started giving us evils stares. I approached the boy and said there wasn't enough bread or crackers and we shouldn't have to pay extra. He argued in an angry manner.He came over to the table later and slammed the ham and crackers on the table and said they were on the house.Meanwhile this was going on the mother is hiding in the back letting this boys fight the battles for her. The whole time the boy was giving dirty evil looks and slamming dishes.This is one of the worst experiences we've had at a winery. This is one of the worst mannered kids I've ever meet with such bad people skills. Absolutely bad parenting skills from the mother who knew what was going on and was condoning all of his actions.We won't be coming back and won't recommend it to others

The new tasting room is brilliant, with views over the vineyards. We shared a platter of local produce, which was a generous serving, with a glass each of their wonderful wine. Great that they produce their wines in an eco friendly way. Service was fantastic. Afterwards, we walked around their wetlands, which are just down the road. A fantastic day out, our thanks to all.

All organic vineyards and wines. The cellar is situated beautiful with some very nices views. Very nice collection of wines to taste. We also shared a regional platter. There were two of us, but we could have shared easily with four. Excellent food!

Visited Gemtree on drive through the hills. Our children loved the playground and we loved the delicious wine and gorgeous views. Sadly we live in another state otherwise we would visit there more often. The seller door wine maker was incredibly knowledgeable and very interesting. I now actively buy Gemtree whenever I find it in the store. All of the area is sustainable and the fact that the wine is organic means no headache in the morning!

Vineyards and wines are all organic at Gemtree. Take an 800 metre walk around the 'wetlands' by the cellar door and learn about the native trees, birds, frogs and animals of the area. Then move to the cellar doo panoramic view across the McLaren Vale vineyards. Interesting selection of quality wines to taste and buy. Platters of local foods for sale to make the visit complete.

Bought a voucher for a platter & wine, what a lovely place to sit and enjoy their beautiful wines with a tasty cheese and meat platter, exellent staff top it off

We were directed here by the Visitor Centre at McLaren Vale when we said that we wanted to enjoy a platter with wine and views. Gemtree Vineyards is a small winery with a lovely deck over looking the vineyards. We ordered the large platter which was fantastic and the owner explained to us that it was all local produce. It was ample for lunch and we leisurely sipped wine and enjoyed the views. The small touches here including the lavender products in the bathroom, just add special touches and make this a lovely destination in McLaren Vale.

It's not finished yet but what a gem of a location and such wonderful wines! Great and knowledgable service adds to the wonderful experience!

If McLaren Vale could be described as God's own country, then this is perfect place to experience from both a visual and taste perspective - all while your children are happily entertained within eyesight and earshot on the play equipment. The view from the cellar door and expansive deck takes in the whole McLaren Vale to the Gulf of St Vincent and Sellicks Hill - just gorgeous.The charming cellar door manager took us through the delightful variety of wines, shared a few bikkies with the kids. We left with a full box and thoughts that next time we will need to try one of their platters.
