With some of the oldest Grenache vines in the region, and a wide variety including Shiraz and Cab Sav, Foggo is a must visit. The owner is extremely friendly, but not pushy at all - even willing to open up as many fresh bottles as you care to taste. He does a stunner of a sparkling Shiraz, and has the only sparkling Grenache I've seen - a much lighter style for those who are keen for something to drink in the warm weather. A must visit in McLaren Vale

If you like a good drop of red, make sure you come to this little understated vineyard. The approach they take is to make wines with no chemicals. As the owner (Herbert) said to us, he likes to make a wine they want to drink. The cellar door is a small room, that is full of flavour waiting to be discovered. Both times we have gone to Adelaide, we have gone back to try the wines (and ended up buying 2 cases each time to ship back to Sydney).

We stopped in here whilst visiting a few wineries in the area. The cellar door is quite small but reasonably charming. There was another couple already there talking to the host, but other than that there was no one else around. We didn't get much of a hello, but we asked to try one of the wines which was poured for us. After this we weren't offered to try a second. No chat, no friendliness. Cannot comment too much on the single wine we tried. There are plenty of other great wineries nearby, so I would give this one a miss in the future.

The cellar door is not much to look at, this place should use a major overhaul (razing it to the ground would be a good start) but it's more than made up by the owner, the atmosphere and the wines. It was my first visit at Foggo, I've ordered their wines online on previous occasions, but it was worth. They have a wonderful collection of great wines and even better specials. Highly recommended.

First time at Foggo Wines today, but what a pleasure! Great quality cleanskins for the price, very knowledgeable and pleasant owner who made you feel very welcomed. Will definitely come back!

Driving through McLaren Vale on the way from Victor Harbour back to Adelaide in October or November 2003, we decided to turn left at the next junction and stop at the first winery that we came to and, happily, it was Foggo. We talked with enthusiastic and knowledgeable owners and ended up buying a case of mixed reds, which we were told not to open for at least 5 years, and which they sent to our then home in the Philippines, plus a bottle of sparkling Shiraz, which we still have. We now live near Paphos in Cyprus and last night (New Year's Eve) took a bottle of Foggo 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon to the restaurant where we dined and enjoyed this wonderful wine with a superb bouquet, soft and fruity palate and a long finish. The rest of the meal was underwhelming but the wine made the evening memorable.

Really enjoyed the visit to this small but very friendly winery. We were made to feel welcome and will take friends there when they come to visit.

Just an unpretentious little cellar door down near McLaren Flat. Lots of fun with the owner (whose name I didn't get, but a lovely man). Look for the old red Dodge Truck out the front. Great value to be found here. Grab a bargain dozen of Beau's Blend (named after the family dog).

Did a quick wine tasting here. The hostess was very knowledgeable and very pleasant to talk to. The wines were delicious and were served graciously. Definitely worth the visit.

Visited the winery early on in the day and it was fantastic. Got to have a great chat with the owner/winemaker and even learned a few new things about wine. The wines that were available were fantastic, certainly well worth the slightly higher price. It was fantastic to learn about the history of the area, the differing soils and the effect they have on the grapes. We will be back.

Some interesting characters - serving and customers.Been coming here on and off for about 10 years - every time, there are some really good wines. Try the sparkling shiraz.

Only a small cellar door, but really friendly staff who love to chat, and excellent wines as well.Their cleanskins are excellent value, picked up a few bottles of Botrytised stickies for only $15 each and some Sparkling Old Vine Grenache (great for summer afternoons) for only $10 each!Maximus, just up the road, is also good.

And I had to write a review about how good this wine is. The sparkling shiraz wasn't up my alley, but the other reds were fabulous. The cleanskin is by far the best value (quality:price) that we picked up on our trip. The chardonnay was also great. The personal attention at the cellar door also stood out as a great experience.

I really loved this cellar door. They had some really beautiful Shiraz and Sparkkling Shiraz varieties. A hidden gem. Because you're not paying for the name here you get a really great drop for your $

Great value for money, especially on their cleanskins.
