Easy access from information centre, small cost, interesting if you are a history buff or have children who wish to learn about the history of the area

Travelled to Deloraine for the final day of the Craft Fair, and this was one of the sites. An interesting 30 min wander through the home with each room set up to represent a functional area of a mid-1800's homestead.

We absolutely loved seeing the yarn wall mural display. Truly amazing art. Well worth staying in Deloraine to visit all the craft art places. Also enjoyed the museum and seeing the chairs made without nails.

I'd been told about the magnificent Yarn Artworks in Silk, and was delighted to break my trip between Burnie and Hobart in Deloraine just as the museum opened at 9 am. The first viewing of the Yarn Artworks in Silk was at 9.30 am (there is a recorded presentation), so I spent my first 30 minutes looking at some of the artifacts in the museum. The entry fee covers both attractions. After listening to the presentation and viewing the beautiful Yarn Artworks in Silk (Wow! It is simply awesome) I viewed the rest of the museum, including the Pioneer village outside which shows the 'way of life' of times now past. The exhibits and gardens are a joy, and I loved the aquaphonium. I could have easily spent more time in Deloraine, but had to move on.I'll be back, next time I'm in Tasmania.

We did not quite know what to expect as we were ushered into as darkened theaterette. I was pleasantly surprised by what was displayed - 4 large quilts made by the community depicting the history and characteristic of the town. I could have spent a full day in there. The detail, creativity and craftsmanship of the townsfolk is incredible. Also how they managed to work together to create something of such seamless beauty.

The museum is located at the Visitor Centre in Deloraine along with Yarns Artwork in Silk. The entry fee covers both attractions. The museum has a great collection of artifacts inside and the Pioneer village outside shows the 'way of life' of times gone bye. The exhibits and gardens are very well kept. The aquaphoneium is a unique hit with the children.

We were very impressed with this museum. It has several elements including an old house decorated with period furniture and an extensive garden and compound with various out buildings illustrating what life was like back in the day. I was particularly impressed by the 4 beautiful massive handsewn silk murals that illustrate the history of the town. Incredible craftsmanship.

This tourist info centre has great extras including folk museum and 4 massive murals made by the towns folk. Both rated very highly by many.

Nicely presented four panel hand-crafted mural of the area--very nicely presented, with spotlights on highlights during the every half hour presentation. We like folk museums because they show how people lived. Want to see what an Australian outdoor privy (toilet) was like--this museum has one on display. Also like the school room and the maid's room.We were surprised by the lovely gardens, with beautiful flowers and lovely views.

This is part of the information centre so easy to find, laid out like a pub it was very good and set in lovely small gardens. We walked around swapping names of the plants which were many from our childhood in UK .

Love this museum! It is small but has many interesting bits of history which has been displayed in a way that you feel you are back in time to how it was then.. The local volunteers maintaining the place were great to talk to, so friendly and informative. Hope to visit again one day

We visited the Museum whilst we waited for the next session of the Yarns in Silk show, I was glad we did. There is quite an extensive collection and you could actually spend quite a bit of time wandering through all the exhibits. They are lovely grounds with glorious views. It is not expensive and well worth the visit, you must however see the Yarns as well they are fabulous.

So much to see, we were really surprised. Don't miss the silk embroidery exhibit, well worth the extra money. A definite must see
