A great place to pop in for supplies, stay longer for a meal, or hang out with the kids. Great produce, gifts and nursery, a beautiful place to go to relax in the beautiful surrounds or have a lovely meal- my parents always want to go for a roast pork meal when they visit. Lovely staff and I love supporting an organisation that supports the community.

Summerland house is an activity of House with no steps - a charity set up to help those with a disability. It is a large farm that employs the disabled in many tasks from gardening to cooking and waiting tables. We found those with intellectual disabilities waited on us at lunch - smiles and careful service that was building self esteem. We played mini-golf, visited the museum, bought macadamias and oils and enjoyed the nursery plants. They sold sweet hydroponic mini tomatoes that were the best we ever tasted!Well worth a visit to show that everyone has ability and the amazing work of the inspirational founder, Lionel Watts.

Thanks Lucyben_10. So glad you enjoyed your breakfast! They really are a treat - its hard to describe until people see for themselves. Our staff pride themselves on attention to detail to make the experience something special. You must come back and try a Summerland House Farm High tea sometime too. Equally delicious and beautiful. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this efficiently run farm. The shops held our attention for a while and I purchased some local coffee - ground so that we could enjoy it while in our holiday cabin. The nursery was full of the healthiest plants and I was oh so tempted! The guided tractor ride was fun and very informative. This is a place I would recommend to people of all ages. A large group was in the tea house waiting for their "High Tea", I believe this is worth doing too.

Last May I was taken to Summerland House Cafe for a Mother's Day High Tea for Mother's Day as a surprise and what a treat it was! Cloths on the tables. pretty delicate china, delectable dainty size treats on a cake stand, a choice of different teas and wonderful friendly service. It was one of the best high teas I have ever had - a Mothers' Day visit to remember. Highly recommend it - I shall be back!

Our trip here started with the "tractor ride" through the avocado and pecan property, with a good commentary along the way. The ride takes place twice daily, at 11 am and 2 pm. This was followed by an excellent high tea ( which must be booked in advance ) at a reasonable price and then a visit to the excellent plant nursery. All activities support the work of Summerland Farms which employ the disabled. Here, everyone is a winner. Add to this the mini golf, playground and water playground and you will appreciate there is something for everyone here and in well maintained grounds.

Great variety of activity for kids and adults at very reasonable costs including a wet playground, putt putt, farm tours and great food supported by the House with No stairs team.

It was worth the detour off the Pacific Highway to visit Summerland House Farm. This place gives disabled people meaningful work and is worth supporting. We enjoyed our lunch in the restaurant and took the opportunity to buy locally produced foodstuffs in the shop.

Summerland House or House with no Steps has something for everyone. Great coffee or lunch and now for a very reasonable price 'High Tea'. Then stroll down to the nursery and the gift shop which is full of local products. If you have children with you a game on mini golf or a ride on the tractor is fun and then relax in the beautiful grounds while the children have fun on the play equipment on in summer run under the water fountains. Not only are you having a great day but the people who work there are putting their skills to work also and love to have a chat with you.

Summerland House Farm is approx 2 km or so out of Alstonville which in turn is directly inland from Ballina NSW. While Alstonville is a pretty little village, we were on our way to this venue on a country drive from Ballina and part of our three day jaunt around the beaches from Brisbane, Qld. The House With No Steps is etched into the log at the entrance fence. This farm with its macadamia nut trees also grows avocados. The farm is run by disabled folk as the founder Lionel Watts had full understanding of their problems. There is a museum in the original cottage which was once on the property. The grounds and gardens are kept immaculate, There is a nursery, grocery shop of the farms products as well as a gift shop and a pleasant cafe and dining room. There are also tractor tours of the farm and a put put green. I found the staff extremely helpful, friendly, polite and spontaneous. Although there was a queue at the counter to order our devonshire tea, the staff came out from behind the desk and took our orders immediately. Sitting outside listening to the noise of water running amongst the established trees and garden, while having the absolute best scones I have ever tasted,I felt relaxed and at one with the pleasant nature of the surroundings. A nice interlude at a well maintained venture. The staff should be very proud of the achievements and it was nice to see the uniforms, hats and tidy appearance of all workers.A big thums up!

Summerland House Farm has had an amazing transformation over the years. They continue to add new things to do and see to keep people coming back. This is a must do place for people with kids as well as those who want to wander around and look at the beautiful gardens and in the gourmet shop they now have. For kids there is a water play area, playground, 9 hole putt putt (challenging and great fun - currently $5) and a tractor ride at 11am and 2 pm ($5 and goes for about 20-25 minutes). There is also an interactive museum to wander through in a small cottage on the grounds. Remember all of the proceeds go to the farm which supports people with a variety of disabilities. If you are hungry head up to the cafe for a snack or meal. Great variety and always tasty. Just a note - if you go on weekends please be prepared for the food to take 30 mins or so to come out as they are always so busy.

Summerland House has so much to offer for a wide range of visitors. It support people who have Additonal Needs and it one of those feel-good places. We had the scones (and were we glad we only asked for 1 = they were giant!) and a delicious tart and the service was just so friendly with one staff member eager for a chat. The facilities were just wonderful with so much to offer for the family with mini-golf, egg collection, farm and then water playground along with a very nice picnic area. I also like that you could get some takeaway food or have a sit down meal. The shop and nursery area stock a wide range of plants and local produce and I could see that they also have a big market day once a month (I think). I can see why people would choose to have wedding here with their amazing gardens. Well done to all the staff - we had a great time.

Although the service was slow, (not a place to go if you are in a hurry) the food was OK, and the staff genuine and trying hard, and the kids loved the playground and water park, the gift shop was great too.
