Great trip for a Birthday, Anniversary etc. and organise a luncheon before the return journey or just a great place to take the grandkids for a train ride. How many young ones have even been on a train? The journey doesn't take too long but the old coaches are terrific. So many reminders within the coaches that I could point out to my own children from my youth. The voluntary staff are just so welcoming.

Saw pictures of the lovely old railway building with flowers and plants around in a pamphlet but when we got there it looked very neglected, no flowers or plants. Still being used by trains to local race days and short trips but they must tart it up just for these events. Very dissapointed.

You just have to have a trip on the train when in Cooma it is just so relaxing & great for families or a couple or even alone but why would you want to do it alone? You see so many different things from the train you cannot see from the road. Nice little shop on the platform for you to peruse & also check out the model railway.

We stumbled upon this attraction by accident and we're so glad we did. For $12 an adult, we boarded an old 1920's CPH Railmotor (affectionately known as a "Tin Hare") at historic Cooma Station and rode the 45 minutes to Bunyan Station before the return journey back to Cooma. It was a trip back in time and the nostalgia and fun were matched by the enthusiastic volunteer staff who shared their knowledge of the history of the Cooma Railway. We had a guided tour of the rail yards and sheds as well as inside the station house. They host special functions such as weddings, Christmas parties and school groups. They also run a 90 minute trip to Chakola and return. They are presently in the process of restoring a Dining Car with the prospect of providing on-board catering. We had such a fun time and for any rail enthusiast, this attraction is a must.
