Down near Cootamundra Railway Station, this museum consists of a series of rooms devoted to different aspects of early life in Australia.Cootamundra was famous as a railway town and you see how the rail staff were accommodated and a lot of the artefacts related to the operation of the railway. Go and have a look at the restored and operating railway station while you're there. The museum also provides a great deal of information about the town.Only a gold coin to enter and well worth it!

I visited here to find out more about my family who lived in the area in the mid 1800s to early 1900s and the lady was very helpful and went out of her way to direct me to the resources I needed.

Cootamundra is such a small town --to find a place like this is truly remarkable. Most people know of Don Bradman but the number of other great sportsmen who come from here is quite inspiring. As well as this aspect of the Museum the otherexhibits reveal a fascinating "little"town well worth a look at

This is a hidden gem in Cootamundra and it is well worth visiting- in fact it should be amongst your first ports of call when travelling south. It is located near the train station and has 14 rooms dedicated to showing a part of Australia's, and specifically, Cootamundra's history. Each room contains original furnishings and information that makes the early days come to life- a bonus for adults and children. Entry fee is a gold coin donation!!!!!
