Having had a bit of experience in paddling sit on top kayaks, but not wanting to take our own boats with us on this trip, and wanting to know more about an area we had never visited, my husband and I signed up for a half day trip with Phil of Bay and Beyond, hoping for the right weather for an ocean trip. However with unstable weather, Phil made the decision that we should opt for Lake Durras, which we were happy to explore. Phil is very professional in his approach, but friendly and low key. He covered all the safety tips, and had good equipment for us to use. Although we are both used to paddling our own craft, we had never really had any instructions and both benefitted from Phil's tips on technique. His knowledge of the local landscape, vegetation, birds, indigenous and more recent history all added to our enjoyment of this beautiful spot. All in all a great outing, and we hope to return on a day more conducive to a trip on the ocean.

Phil and Carolyn are the proprietors.Phil goes beyond the extra mile in providing a friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable sea kayaking experience, especially for the novice kayaker.Time is taken to ensure all safety aspects are covered including a map of the area (for us this was Lake Durras) to take for reference by the kayakers during their adventure. He ensures you are comfortable and more importantly, confident, before getting you into the kayak and launched from the shore, including a check on a practice paddle for beginners just off shore before you're ready to head out. Advice on particular areas of interest that you might want to kayak through during your tour add to the value of your adventure.Absolutely recommend these guys, equipment is high quality and user-friendly, especially for the newbies to kayaking, and the pricing for time on the water is excellent. I'll be getting my non-outdoors, IT centric son into one of these next time we visit the Bay. If I can do it, anyone can! A most enjoyable outdoors experience.

We went on a 3 hour guided tour of Durras lake as my birthday treat. Phil was incredibly patient with us as we were novices in a kayak and not very good at navigating! He was also great with our 2 boys (age 7 and 10) and judged well how to keep up their enthusiasm etc. I learnt a lot about the local area history and it was so incredibly peaceful out on the lake. Next time perhaps we will try it out on the ocean?!

I had the most enjoyable few hours kayaking around Lake Durras today. I had originally planned to do this tour in a few days time but something came up and I decided to change my plans. Phil and Carolyn were more than accommodating in fitting me in last minute. They are both very friendly and knowledgeable with regards to kayaking and the surrounding areas around Lake Durras. Having not done a lot of kayaking before, Phil gave me a very comprehensive run down on how to kayak and all the safety aspects. He also gave me a run down of where all the shallow parts of the lake exist and what to do if you get beached. All in all I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. The scenery is beautiful and the professionalism of Phil and Carolyn is second to none.

Agree with all the other comments. We went for a family sea trip and found Phil to be professional and friendly. He would be my definition of the ideal guide - not overbearing, informative, easy going yet professional. If you're a family of novices like us with a range of ages keen to try something active then we recommend Phil and his company. Definitely added to the experience.Highly recommended.

We have had some beautiful evening paddles this summer, glad we could share one with you guys. Have to admit paddling back in the dark under the stars is my favorite time on the lake.
