This has been one of the highlights of our trip. We only walked the 4.2 kms to Leather Jacket Bay and back. The forests, depending on the trees and bushes are different in colour and reminded us of a magic forest, or Hansel and Gretel, where the thicket impresses you, the old giant trees which have fallen down give a grand setting. There is an old majestic tree where you could imagine is the dwelling of the fairy queen. We met up with a mother and daughter and the girl told us about what the fairies and elves and gnomes were up to - I would tend to believe her. A bird called and we looked up to find a yellow black tailed cockatoo sitting up on the branch watching us. It followed us at a fair distance for the next ten minutes. On the way back we saw a kangaroo far in the thicket. The views were stunning and the rock formations were really worth the hike. We also saw comorans on the boulders out near the water.Leather Jacket Bay had a wonderful selection of different coloured rocks. We enjoyed this walk very much. You pay a parking fee for the park.

I don't think the height of a particularly hot South Coast summer was a really great idea in retrospect. We only made it to Bittangabee beach from Green Cape before the heat got to us and we turned around. You MUST take your swimmers for this more than superb little beach, it is well protected and is great for kids. The rest? Maybe in Autumn or Spring. Wear good hiking shoes, a sun-hat and sunscreen, and take plenty of water with you.
