The oldest national park in Australia, and the most varied. you can bush walk inland or bushwalk along its coastline, you can swim on beach or swim the in river/waterholes. you can hear the birds, the sound of waterfalls, see beautiful wild flowers and old trees. you can take adult friends to enjoy these or take children and guarantee they will have a fab day. Its all left to your imaginations. Or you can just take a drive or cycle (experience needed) from Audley to Woollongong and enjoy the driving and scenery or you can bike/cycle the Lady Carrington Drive (caters from beginners to more advanced bicyclers). Or you can just take an easy day having BBQ, read some books, do some scathing/drawing and let the kids enjoy the nature park. The best thing is to start your visit from Audley where there is a National Park office which can advice you on the spots for picnic or correct paths to start the bushwalk (there are many tracks for beginners to more advanced walkers), provide you with maps, and a cafe to refuel before or after your walk.

South west arm, temptation Creek, wattamolla, Jibbon Beach, Coastal Walk, Lady Carrington Drive, Muddy Creek all special places and so near to Sydney but such an expanse of bush. Mountain biking, road riding, swimming, kayaking, walking all can be enjoyed within 20 minutes of Sutherland. Best to avoid during public holidays as can get very busy, also for some strange reason you are not allowed to bring private kayaks into Audley ( competition for the hire place??) but you can kayak anywhere on the Hacking River which fronts the Royal.

We came here with John from the Sydney wildlife tours for our guided tour. What a really beautiful place to visit. We found out it is the first original national park anywhere in the world. So many beautiful beaches and places for photos. You really must visit here when you come to Sydney for a vacation!

Have paddled the river from audley both directions. Not past weir. Very peacefully, but river could do with a clean up of trees that have fallen into it and block river. Have heard of others having bad experience talking to staff in the Audley information cafe building. I've had same experience. They are off putting when you ask for directions. Or swimming and kayaking areas. Don't just park without paying you'll get booked. Apart from all that a terrific place to go to chill out. Go to Kahoolawe track and pools.

Took the ferry to Bundeena and did a 1-night camp/trek pass Wattamolla down to Otford. Lost count of the beaches, cliffs, climbs we passed. Way to beautiful. Also did the Heathcote track to Karloo Pools. One of my favourite tracks as of yet.

this National Park is only 40 mins from Sydney and has wonderful forests to walk in, birds to watch and a host of water activities. It is mainly for those who want to hike in nature but a drive through the park is also enjoyable.

Coastal walks from Bundeena beach up north to Garie Beach down south, inland bushwalks. Such a variety of outings. Totally recommend.

We took a boat ride from Cronulla and reach Bundeena where we started the walk all the way to Wattamolla. On the way there are two beautiful beaches the Marley beach and Little Marley beach and a beautiful lagoon hidden behind the beach. We stopped briefly in this beautiful rock pool close to Wattamola and while you swim in the pool you can see the view of smaller hills beneath the pool. The park is so beautiful that we couldnt stop taking photos the whole trip. The coastal walk we did took about 4 hours each way!

Several years ago, I remember the amount of trash left along the Burning Palms track. It appears that the rubbish has only been allowed to accumulate since this time! This year, we did the entire Royal National Park Coast Walk from Bundeena to Otford, stopping overnight at North Era Campground. It is not far from Garie Beach, where garbage bins are available, and an option for walking in to the campsite. However from North Garie to Era there were hundreds of plastic bottles, garbage bags loaded with rubbish outside the filthy pit toilets, and bottles, corks, and litter everywhere in the campground. The only rangers we saw in two days of walking on the track were too busy putting up new signs to give any directions or assistance! It seems that the National Parks should either discontinue camping in the Royal if they are unable to control the littering, or else pay their rangers to enforce the camping regulations and fine for littering, rather than erecting additional Coast Walk signs every 200 meters!

What was once a beautiful walk along the coast from Bundeena to Marley beach has turned into a struggle to keep your footing on a badly eroded and degraded track. The park management have seriously let down visitors by ignoring the upkeep of this once delightful track by the way they have diverted the track away from the cliffs (now badly eroded ) to behind the tall coastal vegetation resulting in the loss of many magnificent views and much of the pleasure of walking this once marvellous track.

We took the beach trail south from the edge of Bundeena to Martley Beach. The trail is easy with mild up and down as it follows the coast. We were able to spot a group of Humpback whales and weather for the first week of November was perfect. Very few people encountered and the beaches were mostly to ourselves.

I went to the royal national park via a ferry from Conulla(the spelling maybe wrong here cos i cant remember the exact word.) The bushwalking trail led me up from the pier all the way to a cliff top overlooking the ocean. It was beautiful and if you are lucky you get to see the whales. I didnt. The people tracking there were only a few which made this trail abit unsafe for solo woman.

Lovely place. Lots of great walks, short and easy through to strenuous and long. A wide variety of activities; Audley for food (great price and fantastic customer service), gallery and canoe hire, fishing etc Through to the beaches including one with life savers - Garie beach. More a surfing beach with Wattamolla being more kid friendly with its lagoon. Both have bbq facilities and bathrooms. During summer it's best to head in early in the day as car parks fill up fast. Also Bundeena, a small town, is nice to visit. There's a ferry that departs from Cronulla regularly. Basically, something for everyone. It costs $11 entry for the day unless you purchase an annual national park pass. Well worth it!

The original intention was to do the Coastal Walk over 2 days, with overnight camp at the North Era campground near Garie Beach. However being the October long weekend that site was fully booked. Decided instead to opt for the Uloola Campsite which was available. Turns out there are only 4 or 5 sites at the campground and it was soon sold out too.Not realising the weight of back pack needed for the overnight camp, it prooved a wise choice. The Uloola track links to Waterfall station, but because of thw hot weather forecast, it was decided to take the shorter Karloo trach from Heathcote Station. The track is graded hard and has some steep inclines littered with rocks, boulders tree roots and in some sections is just a mountsin stream bed. The 20Kg back pack made it tough requiring regular rest stops. It took just over 3 hours getting there from Heathcote Station and a little under 3 hrs for the return.Definitely worthwhile for the serenity of the camp site and bush environment.Campsite booking fee $10 for 2 person tent plus 0.25C online fee.
